I joined the cosplay.com community back in 2003 (my old username was huggableshinobi) and I'm just wondering if anyone else was part of it back in the day?

Yeah, a think a lot of people who are currently on here are from way back. Nostalgia and all that. I think I joined in 2005.

I was here during that time (under a different username) and saw its growth over the years. Not only did the forums expand, it was taking advertising from other cosplay accessory manufacturers and was selling its own stuff. I left the site shortly before the site was rebooted into its current state.

I STILL have a cosplay.com wig! I use it for my Shaun Hastings cosplay from Assassin's Creed.

i have probably happily lost the account info to my original account, but i sure do remember it! lurked a lot in the 2005-2008 era.

Not that far back, but I've been here for a while, long before the updates. I went to one of the Fitness group meets at Otakon. I still have a picture from it somewhere.

Yes! I recently got back into cosplay and came back because I didn't know where else to go to get to know people, find groups, or used stuff. The marketplace was my favorite.

i joined in 2006 using a different name. It was the only place i can go to see what oversea cosplay scenes like. The forum was very different from my local cosplay forum.

I was on here for a few years until 2011 and just today found that the account is still alive -- I've been thinking that perhaps my transition to Facebook isn't all that it's cracked up to be. A lot has happened over the past decade.

I believe I joined in 2011...the site has only gone downhill since then. It used to have a marketplace, a convention calendar, a journaling feature, and all kinds of other cool stuff that has been removed. I really don't use the site much anymore because I hate what the remodel has done to it. I keep hoping this site will someday turn into the improved version that was promised to us when the "upgrades" first started...but I've been waiting a long time now and have pretty much given up. They need to recruit more volunteer mods and/or hire someone who can actually get things moving.

I agree that it has gone downhill, and whatever updates seem to be coming in the future have yet to happen, and the site just looks worse right now. :/ The old site was so nice.

We're definitely working on it, and most if not all of those features are coming back. We had an update scheduled to go live a couple of weeks ago but after looking at it, I decided to hold back on the update until those other features are ready to go, which will be very shortly.
While the whole instagram-lite look works well for non-members, most of the feedback I've received is that it looks nice and clean but doesn't provide much of a reason to hang out here, and I believe that hanging out should be the main focus. So we're finishing what was to be the next update in the chain - it's a fully separate area for members to hang out in and do all of the things we used to have on the site, planning, journaling, chatting, etc.
The public-facing side will be slightly different but just a place to search and view costumes, profiles, etc. The members side will have all of the features that used to make this place fun. We have everything from real-time messaging and notifications, to discord-style chat, to bringing back the event planner and even a new usergroups feature (which is the final part being worked on).
It could be anywhere from 2-4 more weeks but it's in the final phases and it's mostly down to some design elements.

I remember and miss the old forums! Such rich resource with everyone's progress updates and tutorials!! Hope the community aspect comes back as strong as it used to be :)
