Nandra's image
from costume Elsa
Nandra It's so exciting to be getting convention photos back! I debuted Elsa at Fanime 2016, after a LOT of meticulous work.
Costume made and worn by myself.

Here's the two-minute version of the costume details. Let me know if you have any questions, I'm not one to keep secrets! =]

BODICE: Cotton corset "paper mached" with overlapping tiles of silicon-treated scrapbooking paper. Additional bling comes from rectangular rhinestones and pieces of thin jewelry chain.

SKIRT: Two layers of fabric, a crushed taffeta underlayer and a sheer, silver-shot overlayer.

TRAIN: Designs are hand-drawn as accurately as possible from observation of stills and concept art. I made my own "snow" by cutting glue into glitter (almost as if making a pastry dough), then applied the snow to the fabric using dots of glue.

UNDERSHIRT: Actually a leotard. Sleeves are ombre-dyed, and the designs are "painted" on with silicon caulk, then covered with mica flakes.

SHOES: Started life as a normal pair of high heels. I cut away most of the top of the shoe, then added larger designs in craft foam, and smoothed it all out with flexible caulk. Painted with acrylics and finished with polyurethane.

WIG: Originally an Arda "Le Tigre" in Ash Blonde. Excess length was converted into more wefts, as did another short wig and ponytail extension I picked up later. Lots of teasing and hairspray, as well as a bit of glue, went into the look. The snowflakes are hand-beaded.

(Note: all the clothing patterns were hand-drafted.)
