effembee OKAY CONSTRUCTION RANT TIME:

KOS-MOS wasn't a very easy costume, and it was basically a beast both to make AND to get on. What ended up hurting more the morning after was my arms (miraculously NOT my feet....), because I'm wearing about three packs of paperclay on each arm. I'm going to try to remake parts of this beast before Ohayocon, mainly so that I can actually FUNCTION AND WALK and not have shit sliding down my arms like this con. The arm guys were made from a model magic base, wrapped in aluminum foil, and then paperclayed and SANDED LIKE MOTHERS and they're still bumpy, which is half the reason I'm going to remake it. Paperclay is a real bitch to work with, and I'm not 100% satisfied with the final product. The big fat thigh armor things look ridiculous. They came out way bigger than I had anticipated, and I actually cut an entire chunk out of the middle to make them smaller, but I think they're too wide. The thigh pieces were made from foam core with craft foam smoothed over them, and then spray painted (ahhhh laziness....).

NOW! Onto the good parts! MY EYEBROWS ARE BLUE! This is first time I've actually used anything outside of MAKEUP to color my eyebrows to match my wig. I used acrylic paint. Never did a trial run, never did anything before hand - I painted my brows in the hotel room, and prayed to go that it would come off later. Second favorite part - MY WIG! Oh man, I love that wig. I ran out of time, and I didn't have time to put extensions in the front, but it's the PERFECT COLOR...I had been looking for this color all summer, and I'm so glad I found it! It was originally a light blue curly wig from cosplaywig that I had straightened. Cosplaywigs are so beautiful *_* Third favorite thing is how the top part and the gold pieces came out. It's really my first time making serious armored parts, and I think I did a fairly decent job (despite them falling off and having to keep hot-gluing them....I should probably research another way to get them to stay...) though I will say that I'm going to have to re-do a lot of the front.

All and all, I LOVE being KOS-MOS and I liked having a Shion follow me around. It was pretty well received and I'm glad there's people who love KOS-MOS just as much as I do. <3 and uh...pretend there's no people in the background.
