First and second attempts at making the back of Batwoman. The left is stencil paint. I did not like how it was progressing, so I re-made the back panel. The right is the second version. To keep the letters aligned, I first heat-&-bonded a large rectangle of red fabric to the back of the bodice, then taped on a paper template from the DC website. Then I sewed through the paper along the outlines of the letters/numbers. This stitching served as guidelines for the letters. Next I tore off the paper layer and peeled off and trimmed away the excess red fabric. Finally I satin stitched around the appliques to better secure them to the fabric.
