Final Fantasy VI

I wanted to do a project that was both very elaborate and had more room for creativity so I decided to try making an evening gown version of Terra from FFVI, inspired by the Amano artwork and FMV images. This has definitely been the most time-consuming costume I’ve ever made with an estimated 20,000 4mm sequins and around 200 hours of beadwork. I actually didn’t get around to trying out some additional ideas I had for the outfit because I ran out of time before Otakon so there might be more added to this costume later on. ^_^;

The sequined flowers were all stitched onto the fabric freehand before the material was cut and the dress and armwarmers made. The dress was the first I’d ever used boning on and I think I did okay. The pink scarf fabric came with a floral pattern in glitter but I knotted the netted fringe by hand with metallic embroidery thread. The gold scarf is plain but the purple one is trimmed with both purchased gold braid and hand beaded fringes with gold metal discs. The jewelry is cloisonné beads and Swarovski crystal. The wig is a butterscotch blonde/platinum blonde Naomi from Cosworx that I trimmed bangs into. For Otakon, I also did my nails in shimmery red with flowers to match the costume.

There are a few bugs that need to be worked out (my scarves fell down the first time I wore it; that was embarrassing. ._.) and I might add or change some things before I wear this again. Although I’m happy with how it looks in person, I’m kind of disappointed in how some details (such as the pattern on my pink scarf) tend to get lost in photos. :-/
