Machine. as Faun

Faun

Original

Cosplayer: Machine.
This was a costume pulled together in preparation for our town's huge local bonfire. I had just seen Pan's Labyrinth a few weeks before and developed a love for fauns in general.

(Great movie, by the way. If you haven't seen it, please do.)

The base dress was originally a long viking outfit from a Halloween long past and I shredded the bottom, modified the fur on it a bit and voila. The brown belt is from that costume kit as well, along with the fur parts of the socks. The skull on the brown belt (a beaver's, painted gold) was found around my house. The vine belt and hair ornaments are plastic vines brushed over with gold paint and little bells wired in-- you can definitely hear me jingling when I walk. :B

The horns were purchased at the Renaissance Faire where these pictures were taken but would be easily made-- they're plasticlay with a shoestring tied through the base. My ears were felt and homemade, held on separately to each ear with a clip at the top cartilage and an earring at the bottom that went all the way through the cloth. The nose ring isn't real, unfortunately, but has a notch in and was actually a part from a long lost pair of pants.

I had the boots and everything else lying around at home, so all in all the faun costume cost me about 20 bucks for the paint, horns and vines.

About five hours of hard labor, and about 30 minutes to do makeup, hair, etc etc.

One of my favorite accomplishments to date.
