Cornelia Li Britannia
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
This costume took less than two weeks, starting the day after PAC and finishing the day before AAC. I worked on it every day after work, and quite a bit the weekend in between PAC and AAC.
I started with the pants, which are a simple skinny pant, faced with a side zipper (thought that would be the easiest place for it). The pants are completely serged with a simple hem; since you can't see the bottom of the pants I didn't bother with blind hem. I'm thinking of putting elastic stirrups in so they can stay in place better.
The top was modified by a long jacket pattern (which I found for $.99 in a clearance bin). I did a mock-up in muslin first, which I never usually do. The bodice of the jacket is fully lined and faced in the front, with the zipper in between the front and the facing. I made the poofy sleeves from another pattern and used lining on the inside to keep them up.
The front chest thing is made from satin (which frayed like crazy, but it was the only thing I could find that I liked), with very heavy interfacing to give it it's shape. The black detail is ribbon, adhered with fusible, and black broadcloth circles, also using fusible and finished with an applique stitch. I attached the two pieces on both sides of the zipper with Fabri-Tac - my number one cosplay tool.
For the boot covers I first made a simple low, ankle boot cover, then attached the front piece, which had the same interfacing as the front of the jacket. The gloves were purchased from iParty (I haven't learned to make gloves yet) and modified. The details on both the gloves and boot covers were again ribbon with fusible (slightly wider than the ribbon on the top) and gold circles glued with Fabric-Tac. The circles are from a foamies craft pack of sport decorations. So amongst the jerseys and footballs were basketballs, baseballs, and soccer balls in various colors. I spray painted them gold (along with 40 more for when I do the cape). The ascot is gathered, secured with velcro underneath, with a gold button glued on.
My wig is from CosplayWig on eBay. It came in the day before the con. I was beginning to freak out until my mom called me at work to let me know it arrived. What a relief. If it didn't come in time I was going to have sharpie dye my Terra wig, which I didn't want to do.
*Ev* I love the detail and work that you put into this! Brilliant cosplay! I'm doing a Cornelia cosplay as well, so i'm really drawing inspiration from you! Thank you so much!
Chiyo sen Awesome! I love your cosplay! I read most of your description lol. You put a lot of work into it and it looks great!
