Raggedy Ann & Andy

Raggedy Ann & Andy

Made these for the Uxbridge Santa Claus Parade.

Ann – I took the Lolita dress I used for my old doll costume. I added red ribbon to make it festive. I sewed the bloomers, adapting the pants from NewLook (Simplicity) 6523. There’s elastic at the bottom of the legs to create the fullness. The yarn wig was fun. I started with an old red tube of a neck warmer. I stitched up one end and added the yarn braids.

Andy – Used the same pattern for the bloomers but didn’t add elastic at the bottom. The shirt I used the sleeves from NewLook (Simplicity) 6523 and the bodice from NewLook 6181, a simple tunic dress that had a loose shape. I made the fleece mittens, too.

October 2019 updates to Raggedy Ann

Dress – made from a quilt top that I found at Value Village. Used Simplicity 3618, but I made it longer and added an extra flounce.

Apron – a simple rectangle with the top gathered with shoulder straps and tied at the back.

Mop hat – a gathered circle that I made last year.
