Final Fantasy X-2
DescriptionBy far, this has been the most time consuming and most tedious cosplay I've ever done. It took 1 1/2 months to learn the airbrush technique in order to accomplish this.
So, for the kimono, I started off with a white kimono, you know, like a blank canvas. It took 10 hours alone just to create without any painting. Now, the time consuming part comes in. I had to go back and forth between airbrushing and manual hand painting the designs. Most of the kimono is airbrushed, but some parts are manually hand painted. Parts of the back and the solid designs on the front are hand painted. The airbrushing took 10 hours to accomplish. In terms of manually hand painting, it took 4 hours and 30 minutes. The overall painting took 14 hours and 30 minutes to achieve. So, the overall total of the construction of the kimono as a whole is 24 hours and 30 minutes.
For the armor aspect, thankfully, the faux pleather that I used to create the side guards and arm guards did the detail work for me. The helmet is, miraculously, the exact color and design as my side guards and arm guards (because I ran out of material for my helmet when I did my side and arm guards). The only difference is the texture. For the helmet, it's more of faux leather. In terms of construction, I created the helmet as cardboard base and frame to fit my head. I then created 3 big pieces for the overall structure. The helmet construction time is 9 hours. For the side guards, both took 4 hours to create (2 hours each). The arm guards, both sides took 2 hours to create (1 hour each). The overall armor construction time is 13 hours.
In terms of the sword, it was just a very odd shape blade and of course, it's also one of Auron's swords from FFX. The sword is made of cardboard and Wonderflex. The design is made of Air Dry Clay with 3 to 4 coats of Modge Podge. The handle is a 3/4" dowel board. The total construction time is 8 hours and 30 minutes.
Lastly, the tassels took 8 hours to create (4 hours each) and are made of thin string/twine. Then the amulets are made of Super Sculpty clay. All took 15 minutes a piece (except for 1, which took 20 minutes). A total of 2 hours and 5 minutes. The shoes were tweeted by me and took 4 hours to make. The red pants that she wears are stretch and took 1 hour and 35 minutes to make.
The overall total of construction time that Samurai Yuna took to create is 59 hours and 40 minutes
