The Boss

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

Playing MGS3, I really did not feel that much of a connection for The Boss. I thought she was a respectable character, but a little too heartless for my taste. Then I played Peace Walker, listened to the hidden tapes, then fell in love with her character. Her story is really touching, and I felt honored to cosplay her.

I made the costume in about a week and a half. It was not that challenging but still took a while to complete. The hardest part was snaking in the bungee cord and making the holders for it. I made everything except the boots (that I ended up painting), the base of the gloves, and the belt. The belt, belt buckles, and boots were bought from an army surplus site. I used my hair that I just slicked back.

The scar was made using nose and scar wax and I was really happy how it turned out :). I played with it the day i put on the costume too lol. It took a layer of spirit gum, then the nose and scar wax which was shaped into the scar, and then a layer of liquid latex. It did like to rub off in high traffic areas though.

My boobs are a bit obnoxious in this costume though and I apologize for that. I did not intend to be hanging out everywhere. The spirit gum did not work exactly as I planned ><.

Here is a video of our walk-on. . We are at 1:45. And yes, someone pulled the fire alarm right before the masquerade and it was 45 degrees outside. I almost died.
