So, after realizing that I would be updating this costume for a third time, I decided to condense it all into one costume page instead of having three for one character. I've gone ahead and copied and pasted the info for each costume below. The first two pictures are Version 1.0, the next three are Version 2.0, and everything after that is Version 3.0. If you've got a question about any version, don't hesitate to ask. :)
Version 1.0: My first independent cosplay, Annabeth was a lot of fun. It was a little thrown together (I had literally finished painting the night before leaving for the convention) but I was proud of it. The wig was actually my sister's boyfriend's wig that he let me borrow because mine was really crappy. I'm planning on buying one of my own as soon as I have the funds.
Version 2.0: This is a more updated version of my Annabeth Chase cosplay. The main and obvious difference is the shirt. I found a good boxy shirt that looked more like a camp shirt than my older one. The design stayed the same, but I improved the quality of it. I don't have a wig in these pictures because mine was literally on its last leg and I just couldn't bring myself to wear it in public anymore. (I'm not talking about the wig in my old pictures. That one was borrowed from my sister's boyfriend.) Instead of the wig, I used my real hair, which was luckily blonde enough to work. In order to cut down on time in the mornings at the con, I slept in braids anyways, so the waviness is really nice and natural. Not pictured is the new knife I made for the costume, as the last one was very cartoonish and amateur. Unfortunately, I left it at home on accident.
Version 3.0: It’s been over two years since I’ve cosplayed Annabeth, and I have to say, I really missed it. Annabeth is probably one of my all-time favourite literary characters, a fact that was reaffirmed for me when I was reading The Mark of Athena, the third Heroes of Olympus book. We FINALLY got an Annabeth POV, which was AWESOME. On top of finishing MoA, I found a friend who was a Percy Jackson fan as well, and we stated to bond over the series. She’s also a cosplayer, and one day I told her that she should cosplay Percy. She was immediately on board, and we jumped into action planning to cosplay Percy and Annabeth together, since everyone knows cosplaying with a partner is way more fun than flying solo. Obviously, this meant that I had to redo my Annabeth cosplay AGAIN, but considering my previous attempts, this could only be a good thing. So we spent a weekend researching fanart and scouring the books and internet for everything we would need. Maya painted all of the beads for our necklaces and I found the stencil that we would both use for our shirts. The shirts are painted using the "freezer paper method" with black Tulip fabric paint.
