Monkey D. Luffy
DescriptionWorking on progress for my second Luffy costume, the post-timeskip default. I've had default Luffy for a long time, and attempted a couple other versions that never panned out, but such is life.
I decided to do the shirt as a bias-cut pattern, and it worked exactly the way I wanted it to. I don't like the fake look of horsehair-braided "ruffles," it looks ridiculous on anything that isn't a girly skirt, so I went for a more natural look. A bias cut shirt would drape and flow the way Luffy's does, so long as I treat the "ruffle" look as artistic stylization.
The shirt is a linen blend, the sash is a plain poly gabardine we've had in our stash for about 10 years.
