Onyx Roses as Elizabeth Swann

Elizabeth Swann

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Cosplayer: Onyx Roses
This costume was one of the first big ones I tackled. The gown is constructed of about five yards of a gold/white swirl damask and features a gold/beige bow rococco trim, a square neck with store-bought lace, gathered sleeves, back-lacing, and an appliqued/painted/beaded stomacher sewn directly into the bodice. Underneath is a quilted petticoat with painted and beaded accents toward the center bottom. Under this are more petticoats, "pillow" panniers, an Elizabethan-styled corset without straps, and a white linen shift with lace at the sleeves, which pokes out under the main dress. I also constructed a hat out of a thick embroidery net with a wire frame and about a half-a-yard of embroidered chiffon. I've been switching about with various fans, but have finally obtained a nice sandalwood one, which I purchased at Dragon*Con 2005.
