This version of my Clare costume was intended as a "rough draft", for a later metal version. Before making metal armor, I wanted to properly figure out the armor design, using craft foam. The shapes cut from pieces of craft foam were mostly held together by metal brads and eyelets (from the scrapbooking section of the craft store). This allows for movement at all the joints/hinges. It's also a good stand-in for rivets, which I plan to use, more than solder, in the metal armor version. The pre-formed foam pieces (like the Foam Can Hugs turned into guantlets), were the only parts hot-glued to more foam.
