I looked at five different picture of Quistis when making the lapels so I could get them as accurate as possible, and since I was painting them on a thin crafts foam (which held shape while still looking fabric-y, it was perfect) painting the lines on directly caused air bubbles. Instead I had to stipple them on dot by dot. Then I had to make another pair of lapels for my friend's SeeD Selphie costume. My arm hurt SO badly after that. Otherwise the costume was pretty basic.
