Christine Daae/Steampunk cosplay...where to start?

This thread is archived.

  • Hello, I'm new to cosplaying. I haven't gone to any conventions, but I love dressing up and making my own costumes! So I'm diving in headfirst and decided I would be Christine Daae, from Phantom of the Opera (with my boyfriend as The Phantom, of course). I'd like to make the costume steampunk, because it is set in the Victorian era, and I think the costume might lend itself well to steampunk. But are there any recommendations for which iconic Christine costume I should use? I'm thinking the white dressing gown is the most well-known, but her "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" costume would be better suited for steampunk. What do you think?

  • I would go with the dressing gown! It's the most iconic and you could do some fun steampunk stuff with it!

I always love seeing Phantom cosplay! Good luck!!

  • If you do go for the blue dress I have a fast guide on the drapery:

It can be adapted for the Elissa gown, the Wedding gown and the blue dress, as well as Carlotta's black and white dress :) The pattern I drafted is the same as what I used for my Elissa gown as well as Blue dress:

The costumes from Love Never Dies might be easier to 'punk, especially given the carnival atmosphere :)
