How to attach a cape for shirtless Thor?

This thread is archived.

  • Greetings all,

    I'm in the process of creating a shirtless Thor costume and have run into some difficulty. I've crafted the cape out of fabric, some 1" thick foam and some metal and curved wood to give it a flare shape over my shoulders. My issue is I can't seem to figure out how to make it stay on my shoulders without adding a tie to the front or looping through the arm pits, both of which I'm trying to avoid. Any ideas on how to get it to hold? I'm going for the look in the attached photo. • My best guess is, since the back of the cape is pressed against his back, that area, as well as the two circles, have some sort of adhesive? I know there are things people use to stick small items to their body, only question is whether your cape is too heavy.

    Otherwise, the necklace (which looks very tight) could be a disguised tie, but again, if its too heavy it will just choke you.

  • Its just loading the google search for me, instead of a specific picture. However im guessing at which picture youre looking at and im guessing that they bent metal to fit their shoulders, and bent it across the upper back to the other shoulder in a large |_| so that the back bar is supporting the shoulders from tilting back. Victoria Secret wings and Carnival wings are done this way.

    Edit;
    Here's a bare harness for you to see the kind of support (Though I would do thicker shoulder bars for comfort, as they could be padded)
