These days it's either my 35mm or 50mm Summicron-M. Long ago, it used to be my 85mm 1.2L.

I switched to using a back-pack designed to carry a camera and many lenses, from using a traditional camera bag. It made it much easier, and less tiring, since I like to come prepared with a wide selection of lenses. I now mostly use a 24-105 L F4. When that is too slow, I bring out primes lenses. I carry 28mm 1.8, 50mm 1.8, 85mm 1.8, and a 16-35 2.8L Zoom.

I took 4 lenses, when I went to AWA.

But overall I prefer:
50mm/1.4(On Crop)
8mm/2.8

8mm 2.8? What camera format are you using?

Rockin out mostly with the primes:
24mm, 50mm, 135mm, 70-200mm.

Wish I could bring my old school 50mm F1.2 with me all the time, but there's just no room in my bag!

Welp...mind you im on a crop sensor so keep that in mind...but
After my first con (as a photographer, not as an artist or general fanboy) My oldschool 35-70 2.8 got the most use....even busted out the 18-55 kit lens because I needed wide...which tells me its time to invest in some good quality wide glass. I didnt find myself wanting the 80-200 2.8 at all unless I needed to be a creeper for some reason...but people are so cool at cons if they dont want to be shot im ok with it. With all the people in the cons I dont know that id want to bust out my primes because I had enough problems stepping back and bumping into people with a zoom lol...I know it would optically be superior...but I think id need the flexibility indoors....outside would be a different story.

Seeing so many of you with the 35mm primes makes me jealous. Really want that add it to my bag, but already having the 24mm and 50mm lenses probably would give me very little added value.

@jonashley - I would definitely bring that 35mm F1.8 everywhere. It's so small and portable, which is a big plus.

I have been finding that I keep on going back to my Sigma 35mm f/1.4 for pretty much everything. I just got a 6D, so I haven't used it on a fullframe body at a con yet, but I just love that thing to death.

After my switch from Pentax to Nikon full-frame, my lens selection went down to four lenses.

28mm f1.8
50mm f1.8
85mm f1.8
70-210 f4

For hallway photos I'll usually use the 50mm, but if the convention is big and busy, I'll use the 28mm instead. For private photo sessions I'll switch between any two lenses I bring with me. Often I'll bring only the 28 and 85 to private shoots because I like to pack light. On rare occasion I've used the 70-210 at private shoots.

About to go to my first Con. Now I have done several photoshoots before and am just now getting into Cosplay Photography. I am half way going for the con it self (Comic books!), and to network with cosplayers. Now, I am a bit picky about photography. I am not pro, but I don't like doing photography if its just snapshots. Honestly, what I am considering doing is grabbing my backpack and bringing my strobe with me. This way, if there is a place to possibly set up, I can and still control the lighting. That being said, I would be lugging around a strobe.. not sure how welcome that would be.
