Solo combat based masquerade?

  • I'm trying to figure out a good solo masquerade performance for my Winter Soldier in summer and as I'm without a Captain America any combat based masquerade performance is a bit tricky. I'm drawn to it as I'm fairly experienced in martial arts and it's something I just have a knack for however I am aware it could look a bit strange. I have been working on the knife fighting sections with my prop so would be a pity to shelve that.

I guess my concern is would it be odd to do a combat based masquerade with other sections for moving around; a run onto stage, pausing for poses with various props etc.

With Civil War coming out, it's a shame you can't get someone cosplaying even one of the other characters to help out. Especially if you've gotten that knife sequence down really well. If I were nearby, I'd come help out...but the UK is a bit of a haul for me! :)

  • Oh believe me I've tried! One of my friends would make a great Captain America the only problem is he's a big Iron Man fan and is probably going as Tony Stark in the summer convention, he's trying to get his girlfriend to go as Pepper Potts, apt since he is so busy, rubbish at keeping track of anything and she's the calm organised one! While that kind of works our costumes aren't exactly the Civil War ones so at least if he is there as Tony it'll be good for photos and continue the banter we've had about our sides! :D

I'll figure something out! The thought is appreciated though and I'm part of a few groups so somebody may be able to help or I know I've been mentioned a couple of times in groups for people wanting a Bucky Barnes so see what comes of that. I do hope to get to a convention in the USA one day just so I've been to one and see more of the country. :)
