I'm cosplaying the Engraver from Fatal frame 3 for anime fest next year. I did her for PCC this year and even though nobody knew who I was (fandom isn't all that big) I got great reactions, but I want to make her better. I've seen few cosplays for her and none are exactly...accurate. She's difficult to do as you fight her in the dark so you can't see her well. All the cosplayers I've seen make the skin and Yuukata color wrong, and leave out her tattoos, as well as bind when she's supposed to be topless. At PCC I just used a grey leotard and painted my arms and face grey. I'm thinking I'll just do that again, but if anyone else can suggest a way to look topless, that would be great. I have astigmatism, so I can't get colored contacts, and her eyes are supposed to be gouged out. Lastly, she's a ceremonial tattoo artist, so she has long needles going through her arms. I don't know what to use for those. I was thinking chopsticks.

Agreed, I love Fatal Frame (In fact, I just got 2 on Xbox from ebay lol) and Its sad to see that the fandom is bare to none.

Anyways, with Engraver, a lot of people seem to go with very bright colors, example; Her sash is more of a gold with brown and red dirtying it, while people just make it flat out red. Her skirt looks like it has either multiple layers, or a pattern/design. Unless you want a perfect imitation of it, you might want to get tulle with either silk or chiffon for the top layer and regular material for underneath, I want to say polyester but that might look/feel off...

With her skin color, if you plan to be inside/somewhere cool, a leotard would probably be best. If you're planning to be outside, I say a very thick/colored fishnet sleeveless turtle neck style top, or a tub top thats the same color of your skin. You can drape your hair over your back and chest too.

Her arm things might be hard to make...I heard someone made see through straps that held each of the spikes out. I'm not sure what cosplay it was...

With her eyes..Hmm...It looks like she has a strip of fabric over her eyes. Try getting that and more tuile? double or single layer it and make it in the inside of the strap. After that, you can probably be able to see through it! Make the outter layer darker around the eyes, so it looks dark again.

Anyways, these are mostly just ideas! I had trouble looking for help with my upcoming Mio cosplay, so I know how hard it must be looking for tips. Anywho, I hope it helps!

The bottoms look like they're Hakuma pants, so that's what I plan on using, and I'm going to use the leotard again. I already plan to use molding clay or something and body glue to attacked the needles, but it's the needles THEMSELVES I'm having a hard time with. Last year I used cardboard, but I want to use something better this year. I have till September to get things ready, so a trip to home depot is in order.
