I am starting on a Pyrrha cosplay from RWBY and genderbending since I am male. To give a bit of context so the question makes sense, I am basing much of the design for the cosplay on Achilles from the movie Troy since Pyrrha is based on Achilles, and just making adjustments and matching the colors to how she looks in RWBY.

The problem I am having is finding the right pleather or faux leather material to make the "Sleeveless shirt" thing he wears underneath his shoulder armor. Ive been shopping and all I find is very thin, cloth like faux leather or very thick upholstery leather. I need to to have a bit of stiffness, but still be wearable and bendable.

What would be the perfect fabric for this? Does anyone know a good link to get it in brown?
Ref pics are below. Thanks again guys!

I did a blog post on leather-clad character stuff, might be worth a read.

As to the weights of the different faux options: go into a fabric store and feel them. not every 'upholstery' is completely out of the question.

That's awesome! Would you be able to link me to your blog post?

When I did Pyrrha, I ended up going with an upholstery vinyl. Pain in the butt to work with, but it looked lovely! (Don't rush the corset structure part though-- I did during concrunch, and it definitely could've used more...)
