Hey everyone! I need some help.

Okay, I'm planning my Halloween cosplay, Disgust from Inside Out:

So, everything is fine except for the fact that I need an invisible zipper in the color green for the fabric that I got. Now, I was told that I can dye a white invisible zipper the green color that I need with the Rit Dye (for synthetics). The thing is that, I've never had to dye any notions, especially invisible zippers.

My question is this. How would I dye a polyester invisible zipper? Do I treat it the same way like dying synthetic fabrics or is there a technique specifically for notions, like invisible zippers?

Thanks for the advice:bigtu:

I'm sure if it's 100% polyester, you would just dye it as you normally would polyester fabric.

Plastics take dye similar to polyester. I've dyed buttons before. In many ways it's easier because you are working with a smaller quantity and smaller containers, so a whole bottle will give you several tries.

^ What Penlowe said.

The one finicky thing with dyeing zippers is that the zipper pull (the plastic bit you actually grab) can sometimes come out a slightly different shade than the fabric part of your zipper-- I've dyed a few, and my pull tabs tend to be a smidge lighter. It should look totally fine with your garment overall, but just something to think about!

Awesome, thanks guys:bigtu:

I'll totally keep that in mind with the pull tab on the zipper itself:D
