I'm in Crafters Corner this year so it's hard to say how Friday night will go, but hoping we can make it and actually say hi to the people this time!

25+ as in age?

Yes. But nobody's really checking ID at the door. If you're close to 25 and/or legal drinking age, you're good.

Oh, it's alright. I'm not really attending Anime North (Although I wish I was lol). I'm just surprised to see this being a thing. Not that I'm complaining, quite the opposite. I always feel old at cons, so I'm glad to see that there are others who are 25+ still cosplaying and doing your thing... At least enough to have a 25+ meet up at a specific event.

It's not new, either! It's been going on for several years.

That's awesome! I wish more cosplayers did this. Whenever I go to cons I end up meeting people like 7-10 years younger than me. I'm starting to feel old lol.

It gets a good crowd every year too! I think last year many were around age 30 and I don't think I was the oldest (33) either.

I agree though, more events for the older crowd is good. It can be hard to tell a persons age, especially in cosplay.

That's good to hear because I was curious as to how many people still cosplay after 25 and I always worry about being "too old" for this. I'm 27 right now, so it's a relief hearing that there's people 30+ still in this hobby, although I don't really see many locally, but like you said it's also hard to tell people's age in cosplay. Ironically enough when I first got into this hobby everyone I knew was 25+ and mostly in their 30's. I do hope to see events like these at cons near me because I'm no where near Anime North lol.

I'm 28. I've gotten a lot more into historical costuming than cosplay in the last year, but I still do both! Plus commissioning. Though since I've done darn near everything you can do at cons in the last ten years so there's not a lot of excitement for me at most any more, I mostly attend them to vend my crafts nowadays.

Hey, out of curiosity what exactly do you guys do at these meet ups?

#12 AJ the Collector on 1 year ago

The one event where I know I'm not the oldest person present! :V

I'll be there, but probably no cosplay that day because I hate being in cosplay at the Nomi and ruining it with ten gallons of sweat. If I do cosplay, I've clearly lost my mind, and it's gonna be L from Death Note, but if not, I'm gonna put on my kitty accessories and otherwise show up as a big sweaty dude with a handcart full of merch. If anyone sees me enter, wave to me! :3

Talk & drink. I'd say make connections but I don't actually do that as i'm not local to the area and outside of cons i'm not a social butterfly anyways.

I just like to hang out with people closer to my age so that they get my references.

I tend to chat with everyone about how their Friday was, their plans for the next two days, etc., and I like sharing and exchanging con anecdotes and giving people anime recommendations. Also it's cool having DireKitty around cause we're both major figures in the whole photoshoot thing, her being the schedule organizer and me being the guy behind Random Games.

I'd actually love to finally attend this so long as paneling doesn't kill me like it usually does on Friday (3/4 of my panels happen the Friday lol). I'm sure my bf would too considering he only got into cosplaying when he was 29!
