Mask Help for Reaper (Overwatch)

• I'm super new to this and I'm trying to make a Reaper mask for my younger brother.

So far I printed out (on printer paper) and put together THIS. And now I'm stuck haha. Paper's obviously not a strong material. So how do I strengthen it? I thought maybe I could paper mache it (I've seen a million and one ways to paper mache. What's the best way you'd recommend for this specific thing?), but I'm not sure if that'd be enough. The structure seems to be pretty weak where the gap at the back is too. Next is how would I attach the mask to his face? Would just sticking on a elastic band do the trick? I would follow it all with a white spray paint and black acrylic.

Another Idea I had (if that one seems too ambitious) was to get one of THESE and use white craft foam (the "kids" stuff) to get some of Reapers features. It will be pretty simplistic in comparison, but if it works it works.

This is my brothers first time ever wanting a costume, he's autistic so this sort of thing is really hard for him. It's really important to me that he kicks butt with his costume

I'm open to any and all ideas! If I should try sculpting with clay, or anything like that I am 100% willing to try. Our budget is pretty tight though keep in mind haha.

Thanks is advance!

• honestly what id do is go to a store that might have higher grade paper
(office supply or such)

printer paper is ~20lbs text paper, you want a nice cardstock paper
(for referance typical brown paper bag is 80lb text, and construction paper is ~90-100lb text (varies by brand)

or since youll be cuting all those shapes again (or just keeping the pieces laying proper)
you could use a couple decks of cards (cards use index paper which is one of the heavier types)
...so you could use a pack of index cards instead if you wanted
then you dont have any issues with how the wax used to coat cards may affect things

build 2 layers up one layer down
that will make it alot more sturdy than printer paper alone
you probably arnt but ill advise anyways not to use hot glue or a glue stick

having a stronger base, opens you to more options like body filler, clay
or fiber glassing

but someone else whould have to advise you on that

also since this is for an autistic person, youll want to make sure thier ok with
the weight or simply having something hanging on thier face
having gone through school with a few autistic people
i know that even if the idea of a mask is cool
they might notice how it blocks part of thier vision
or that the "breathing holes" are small and can make them anxious

being that its your bro, im sure your close enough to know most of his quirks
but should anything spring up, feel free to ask how to alter a piece to help alieviate
those issues

also, another group that regularly builds pepakura masks and has to make them stronger
are stormtrooper cosplayers (the 501th legion) and halos 405th

couldnt imeadiatly find anything tutorial wise looking through 501 sites

http://www.405th.com/showthread.php?t=41890 follow links, might have more help in those

oh, and if you dont get enough help on this post (give it 3-4days) repost under props/armour
