I searched around and was surprised to find that no one had done a cosplay thread for Touken Ranbu yet! It's currently a very popular online game with famous Japanese swords anthropomorphized as beautiful men.

Personally I'm in love with so many of the character designs that it's not even funny anymore. xD I plan to cosplay many of the them and I'm currently working on Kashuu Kiyomitsu's uchiban/casual outfit! I also plan to cosplay Yamatonokami Yasusada, Izuminokami Kanesada, Kogitsunemaru, Mikazuki Munechika, Taroutachi etc. There's just way too many cool ones and I'm a sucker for old Japanese clothing and samurai type of characters anyway!

Anyone else planning cosplays from Touken Ranbu?

I came here for the first time in forever because I was curious if there was a Tourabu thread going. I've got a few cosplays I want to do from it, only 2 set in concrete though. Going to start work on Izuminokami in a month or so for a con in August and am doing Jirou for a con in October. Kashuu, Mustunokami (if I can get some decent muscle beforehand) and Tsurumaru are very tentative maybes.
The designs are so beautiful, I agree. It's super cool seeing how some of the swords are personified and man, the attention to detail in a few of those outfits. I ended up deciding to cosplay Kane-san first because a friend is cosplaying Horikawa but the attached picture had me wanting to cosplay him at some point regardless.

Joining in on the fun! I may or may not have spent the afternoon hammering out logistics of Tsurumaru's outfit instead of working my thesis (oops). I may do Hotarumaru for the same con. I love the designs of a lot of the tachis, but unfortunately, I am small...

I agree with you so much about the designs! OMG thanks for showing that picture, I hadn't seen it before! Wow, that's someone who did their research; it's seriously amazing!
I hope you will show progress photos of your cosplays when you start! Can't wait to see it!

My first Tsurumaru Kuninaga photoshoot! Click here to see all the photos ~

I want to buy a new wig though because I'm not perfectly happy with the current one. It's okay but it's too sparse in the back and yeah, the netting shows really easily...
