Imperator Furiosa prosthetic arm help

This thread is archived.

  • I've researched several robotic arm tutorials. They all seem great, but none really address a way to do a fake, prosthetic limb. Is this even possible?! Or am I kidding myself?

    Here's a picture:

  • I'm also looking for help with Furiosa, starting with some actually decent photos of her outfit. The prosthetic is gonna be hard, but I think I'll just end up having an elbow-length black glove and building pieces of the arm around it. That's pretty much the only option I've been able to come up with. :P

  • I'm also planning on tackling this project, probably in the next month or so. I always take oodles of pics, so if it turns out well, I can post a link to the tutorial on my blog. If it doesn't turn out well, then no tutorial, lol.

  • The problem I've always had with things like this is, what do you do with the real arm?
My interest was in how to cosplay Tezzeret:

With Furiosa's forearm, the mechanism is clearly thinner than her arm would be, if it existed. You would have to widen the design of the arm to accommodate your flesh. At that point, you just create a metal-like sleeve around your forearm, I would assume.

  • I found this cool gallery of some closer shots of Furiosa, Max, and Immorten Joe. I also saved off the Furiosa stuff into a tumblr post, because that other website takes a lot of time for me to load it. Of course, the full-body of Furiosa is blurry >_< Whyyyy, that's the only one I neeeed.

  • I found this amazing pic of the prop. I'm sure it'll be loads of help :) http://madmaxcostumes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Mad-Max-Fury-Road-Imperator-Furiosa-Stunt-Arm-Dayna-Grant.jpg

  • OH MAN this is so nice, thank you!!! ^

I couldn't wait! I've started my build and as I write the tutorials I'll post the links here. My arm isn't screen accurate exactly and it won't be a replica, but I'm doing the best I can with my minimal prop making skills and documenting it to at least give a jumping off point for anyone interested in tackling this project. I'll post the arm tutorials first, but if anyone wants, I'm writing tutorials for everything and I can post those as well.

  • Figured I'd post a little update.

  • Nice work!

Thinking about doing Bloodbag Max or maybe Bulletfarmer (more ambitious, I always wanted to work with leather)

btw.: That top image breaks the thread (don't know if it's resized for other users)

  • I finished my arm! I also wrote up my tutorial. It's three parts and part one is posted.

That's the finished product. And the tutorial part one

  • So turns out I won't be cosplaying Furiosa right away, but I will be helping my friend make her outfit. I'll be sewing all the cloth parts, and she'll be modeling and 3D printing the arm and belt buckle, as well as doing the leather work. We're doing a Mad Max group for Colossalcon 2016 with her as Furiosa, me as Splendid, her boyfriend as Max, and her sisters as Nux and Capable. I'm so excited!

  • Here is Part Two of the arm tutorial.

Also, I have an option for the wig. I used a wig I got from Purple Plum and cut it down. I still have to do some blending, and it's still not quite short enough, but it looks pretty realistic. In fact, my family had thought I shaved my head when I posted a pic to facebook.

  • Finally finished part three. Hopefully this helps at least one of you make your arm :) It actually wasn't terribly difficult. And if you run into any problems, feel free to message me. I'll do my best to help.

  • I'm going to shave my head. I recently cut my hair the shortest its ever been (like penny from bbt) I've always wanted to see what I looked like with a shaved head so I'm doing it 😀 everyone should try it once.
