Ohayocon 2014

This thread is archived.

  • Anyone for a borderlands cosplay group?

  •
Ohayocon is going to be the biggest convention I've been to. The next largest was only about 5,000 or so, and this one's more than 13,000. Can't wait to see what big conventions are all about.
I didn't realize Ohayocon was that big! Youmacon is the only convention I've been to, and I've gone the last two years. It gets kind of crazy with so many people, but it's a lot of fun! I'm so excited to see a new convention!

But I'm so indecisive about cosplays, haha. I know I'm crossplaying Tokiya Ichinose from Uta no Prince-sama, but everything else is a mystery. I was thinking about Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran High School Host Club and Pyun Tanaka from Magical Witch Punie-chan (and my friend would be Potaru). But now that I see other people are doing video game cosplays, I might take my Zero Suit Samus cosplay that I made for Youmacon this year. It was such a fun costume to wear.

I'd love to find some more UtaPri cosplayers. And DRAMAtical Murder, because that's my thing at the moment, haha.

  • So I was wondering if anyone had any hotel room left. I'll arrive late Thursday night.I have up to $75 total to spend on a room. I thought I had a room but now when I ask about it they ignore me.

  • I finally decided my cosplays today. I plan on cosplaying

    -Crownjewels!Moriarty
    -Danny Phantom
    -Jack Frost
    -Korra

I'm so excited for this con :)

  • This'll be my sixth year going. Surprised there haven't been photoshoots set up for Doctor Who or Valve, I was trying to see what was best for other people so I could request one...

Hurp. My friends and I are in the same boat as you. We plan on looking into hotels this week. If we get a room, I will contact you if you haven't got one yet. ^ ^

Good Luck, but it seems like pretty much every Hotel in the Down Columbus area has been completely sold out since September or October.

Since I live in Columbus, I'll probably just make a day trip of it on Saturday this year, the past several Ohayo*Cons I have had a room, but every year it gets harder and harder to get one, and I'll probably just wear this:

Double good luck. The best you might get is a last minute cancellation but even then most will just put you on a list most likely since I know there is no way you're the only ones. Ohayocon is notorious for having it's hotels sold out months in advanced. I hope you guys can manage something.

  • I give in. I'm going to go just on Saturday this year. There are just too many cool artists going. Thankfully I live in C-bus, so I'll just drive down for the day. I'm just going to dress as myself, armed with my camera of wonderfulness. Maybe this year I'll actually take pictures!

ETA: Since pre-reg was still open today, I decided to spend the extra $10 and go for the whole thing. This is going to be fun!

  • It does appear that the Hilton Hotel across from/attached to the Convention center still has rooms available, or at least still had them yesterday. However, the Hilton is not a "Convention Hotel" and there is no discount rate. You'll pay regular rooms prices, which in this case are $219 a night for one King Size bed.

  • Hotels in downtown Columbus aren't cheap. So be prepared to spend upwards of $200 a night if you're waiting until the last minute (you're not going to get the con rate). If you have a car and can find rooms in the surrounding area you'll have better luck. There's some cheaper hotels near Ohio State and it's maybe like a 10 minute drive to the convention.

  • Im planning on coming up sunday and am only there to shoot...freebies...so...if youre still there sunday come find me or tell me a fun place to be....ive never been to the ohio con and will be coming up solo after going to a uk game on sat.

  • Is everyone done their cosplays? I'm still working on mine.

  •
Is everyone done their cosplays? I'm still working on mine.
Mine are for the most part done. My stylist still has my Fllay Allster wig though, and my Dead or Alive Kasumi Pop Idol costume was shipped with 2 day priority this morning OTL I'm nervous it won't make it here by the time I'm leaving on Thursday.

The most I know at least is that it is in fact done.

  • I just have to add some fur to a jacket, and hot glue some fabric to a headband, and I'll be completely finished. I plan to finish up tonight.
