I'm a little interested but I have never been through one before I figure it might be a good way to meet people with similar interests. What are your thoughts?

I've never tried the speed dating thing at any con, but I may give it a chance. If only because it would be a good chance to meet people with similar interests. And also to help me get over my almost crippling fear of meeting new people, lol.

A buddy of mine did it last year and made some great friends at cons - but there is no actual inclination for 'dating'. It is more of a shy persons meet and greet. The only problem he had with it is that they have models with cameramen that join the speed dating just to record reactions or something like that. He said that was the only thing that bothered him

I've done it a couple of years in a row and it's a lot of fun. Definitely meet a lot of great people in a short period of time, some of which lead to relationships. It depends on what you're looking for and what you expect to get out of it.

I considered it, but cause I get side tracked, busy, and just have problems talking to strangers at times... i decided against it.

Honestly, I've done it every year and it's so much fun to get to talk to people and meet a lot of new friends. Quite a few people from various sessions I'm still friends with and we hang out here and there at each one. Never found "the one," but I think it's just because I'm at an age where I know what I want and I'm not looking to just settle. It definitely helps you get over talking to people because at the most, it's 3 minutes each date and you never have to talk to the person again if you don't want to, but by the end of it, you've talked to 50-100 people and you realize that it was actually a lot of fun and you're not as weird as you thought! I really recommend it.

Went twice this past year, had an okay time. Going in cosplay to it was hilarious, as it was the first thing most people commented on. But I'd agree, it's more friendly than dating, and there were a few cool people there.

I had no idea there was such a thing at megacon. Of course finding this out led me to finding out they do all sorts of things besides the main room, panels, and autographs. And now I keep checking megacon's event page to see what they're doing in 2015, nothing posted yet. -jumps up and down like a kid hyped up on sugar- so excited! Looks like I'll be doing more tan browsing the main floor this year.

They have different sessions all three days. I think i saw the schedule on megacon's facebook page.

I keep going back and forth about going. It sounds fun, but the phrase speed 'dating' gets stuck in my head and I see where people have commented that there isn't an inclination to actually date, but I realize there are people that go there specifically to look for that type of relationship and I dunno I guess I would feel bad going in looking for friends knowing that some people are looking for a serious relationship.
