-finish helm trim
-finish chainmaille overshirt
-finish gloves
-spray silver on shield and high gloss clear coat
-make back harness for shield fastener
-apply leather detailing to back of shield
-figure out how to adhere and make leaf symbol to chest

Pokemon "Ash" trainer kimono

-buy materials
-create belt holding system for pokeballs

Dr. Strange (for brother)

-buy materials

Both my costumes are going to be done for CostumeCon first, buuuut that just means I have even less time to get my shit done. Let's see, what's left...
Historically accurate Anastasia court gown:
-Make tiara (Have only gotten as far as cutting the crapton of pieces out and making pinning loops)
-Pattern and sew silk sash, and I'm throwing in some silver hand-stitching on the edges too
-Finish beading the skirt and sew all the layers together/gather into the waistband
-Finish the bodice (got to sew the sleeves, the bottom hem and the top trim, then put in the zipper)
-Figure out if I can paint the shoes I have, or get a better actually-pink pair if I can FINALLY find some
-Make a balayeuse for the dress to keep the hems clean, because I am NOT NOT NOT NOT washing this skirt unless it's 1000% needed. Thousands of beads and an enormous skirt= NO WAY IN HECK can it be washed.

Heather:
-Finish the axe (a LOT left to do. Fortunately, boyfriend is helping out considerably for getting it done to save me time I don't have)
-Make the hooded t-shirt and mask she usually just wears on her neck
-Order a steer horn and do the wrapping around it to put it on the belt
-Sew trim on my boots and add the string wrapping around them
-Do a proper makeup test (got to pencil my eyebrows and practice with the blush, definitely not winging it)
-If I have time, make a better undertunic that'll fit nicer under the vest and shirt.

Nooo don't remind me xD! I'm juggling cosplay and school.

Rin:
I have her earrings.
Choker is on the way.
Have the shorts, no modifying needed.
Have pink fabric ready for the jacket/boots (I found a couple off Amazon but haven't decided which one to get...any recommendations for other sites?)
Still need: her jacket, boots, wig + hair extensions, blue fabric for the jacket. Lastly, her belt.

Ruri:
Have her earrings as well.
Bought red fabric for her 'wrap' thingy
Her top
Pants/leggings
Two belts
Still need: her boots, wig + hair extensions.

I was planning Aigami as well but decided to save the rest of my money.

Alrighty, good progress was made this week! What's left now...

Historically accurate Anastasia court gown:
-Glue gemstones onto tiara and paint the rest of it silver
-Pattern and sew silk sash, and I'm throwing in some silver hand-stitching on the edges too
-Hem the skirts and sew the hooks and eyes for the waistband on (Planning to finish that up on Sunday)

Heather:
-Finish the axe (Boyfriend went to his parent's for the weekend to work on it for me. Plan is to have everything but the finishing sanding and paint/leather wrapping done by Sunday morning)
-Order a steer horn and do the wrapping around it to put it on the belt
-Do a proper makeup test (got to pencil my eyebrows and practice with the blush, definitely not winging it)
-If I have time, make a better undertunic and a better mask/turtleneck that'll fit nicer under the vest and shirt.

...oh yeah, and I do have a commission going on that needs to be done by AN too. Still got to make the tailcoat and the cape, but I'm done the dress shirt, cravat and pants!

Since I ordered the wig and the boots I need for Rin, I still need her jacket and the blue fabric for the detail. Then use the pink fabric I already have for the boot detail once I have them as well. I ordered a new choker for her, and hope it comes on time AND with no problems. For Ruri I got the wig for her as well, just need her vest and boots, but I still need to sew the top back up but with school finishing up I really hope I can still crack down.

Since it was beautiful outside the shield is done with the painting. Still need to add the belt straps and fastening system (I'm going with industrial strength Velcro).
Helm is done including a clear coat. Initially I was going to add a chin strap but looking at the original comic books, captain did not have chin straps so that's fine.
Did a little chainmaille too, about 3/4 done.

Still left:
The pants - most of it is done, need top of pant and hem
The undershirt - not started
Finish chainmaille
Gloves - vinyl detailing
Harness system - not started
Maple leaf emblem - not sure what material even....

Pokemon trainer - not started but that won't take long to whip up. It's going to be cute.

Bro is doing his own so I'm off the hook for his.

Progress pictures coming soon. I'm just too lazy to format my photos.

Okay, looks like I'll be done just in time for CostumeCon (which means, all done for AN too aside from fixing up wigs). Finished Anastasia's tiara (SPARKLE SPARKLE @[email protected]), skirt is done, sash is done (real silk! oooooh, now I don't wanna go back to polyester satin, even the good stuff....dangerous....), just got to finish the bodice and make the skirt's balayeuse. And if I have time, do the wig over again. The damn bun is off-center and somehow it's been getting messy just sitting on its wighead. But rushing on wigs= absolute disaster for me, but COSTUMECON IS SRS BSNS....
And Heather, got to paint the axe (hoping to do that this weekend), I ran out of trim for my last boot wrap so I'll need to get more and do that, get my horn and attach it to the belt, and if time permits make my better tunic AND mask in time for CostumeCon. If I run out of time I'll just have those for AN. Oh yeah, and I wanted to make her satchel... fortunately I have plenty of black upholstery pleather, just need the time to make it since most of it'll have to be hand stitched.

Some progress!

Gloves are done! Gloves are hard to make, I didn't realize how complicated they are. That and the material I am working with frays like crazy. I had trouble with gluing vinyl to vinyl, but I found a way around that.

I am gluing on leather straps to the back of my shield, where I hold on to and a strap for around the forearm. I am using Elmer pro bond glue and I like it! It's super strong. However, I need to clamp things down for it to dry and it takes a full 24 hours for maximum strength. That is slowing things down.

So that leaves:
The pants to finish
Start the undershirt
Finish the chainmaille shirt
Start the shield harness
Figure out how to do the emblem

It will be done for AN.. For Costume con... I don't know yet....

The kimono won't take long to do so I am not worried about that.

Heather is alllllmost done! made the satchel on the weekend while at Mom's, the axe is just starting to be painted (and then I have to do the leather wrapping to finish), I'm making up a better tunic, possibly a better mask thingie, and then all done and ready for CostumeCon, followed by AN. (Also, glad I bought a real steer horn for her horn accesory. I dropped it four times so far and I only got it this AFTERNOON.)
Anastasia, I'm hoping on the dress being totally done tomorrow.

#11 SuperBee on 1 year ago

With work being so busy, I am not sure how much I can get done this week.

This is what's done:
Shield - sprayed and back straps attached. Probably not making a back harness.
Gloves - done
Helmet - done

Still needs to get done:
Pants - the hem, top where I'll put in an elastic, belt loops
Shirt - started - needs sleeves, hood and hem
Chainmaille top - more scales are on order and will be coming tomorrow or Wednesday - put on backing (with silicone) to reduce shifting
Make and adhere maple leaf emblem to chainmaille
Create leg strap for side leg pocket
Create loops for waist pockets.
Pokemon trainer fabric purchased

I have never been to Costume con before and I am wondering if Captain Canada is worthy of going... This stuff is new for me to make but is not "wow" factor like pictures I've seen....

All costumes are welcome, so don't sweat it and take it along (assuming you got it done in time! I'm busting my butt to get everything done by Easter here, myself...)

Ordered the coat for the bf's Soldier...IT CAME IN AND LOOKED AMAZING! But...the arms were too tight, so I had to re-order. If anyone is still looking, or knows someone looking for a Soldier 76 jacket, send 'em my way!

Bf's Soldier 76:
- Coat Ordered....again T-T
- Need to make shoulder strapping when coat arrives.
- Boots and mask are all painted, need to be sealed.
- Add visor piece to mask... this weekend.
- Wait on magnets to CONNECT mask
- Add balaclava to mask for head piece.
- Gloves painted - need sealing.
- Gun ordered.

Mercy (Valkyrie):
- Helmet (inside is sanded down more so it fits snugly, but not tight on my head like the initial run)
- Still waiting on staff pieces (need to build base next weekend)
- Plastic obtained for feathers - working on this weekend
- Add EL wire to feathers.
- Blaster ordered

Lucua/Quetzalcoatl (dragon maid):
- Hat is painted
- Paint shoes
- Horns are made, now to wire the inside of them to the hat to stay put!
- Order contacts.

Still lots to do, but my friends and I are doing a cosplay crunch workshop weekend next weekend so hopefully we get a LOT done.

[QUOTE=DireKitty;5054683]I'm literally doing crunches for my cosplay.

Fortunately Anastasia has a corset, buuuuut everything else I'm wearing is skintight.... so yeah, also on the annual slimdown regimen. It's not going well from a combination of having to travel several days every other week to visit my Dad who's terminally ill in hospital and the stress it's put me under (it is IMPOSSIBLE to both cut calories/diet on healthy stuff AND get enough exercise when you have four or five-hour, each way, trips to make), being way too damn busy sewing and my piss-poor willpower in regards to dessert. It's been six weeks so far and I've lost about.... four pounds, I think? About half my intended goal by now. :P

Speaking of Anastasia, these sleeves dang near killed me today. But now all that's left is the trim on top (and a possible fixing fit on the back of the shoulders), a full-on final fitting to make sure everything is indeed as it should be, and make the balayeuse for my skirts. SHOULD be finished by the end of this week, just in time for CostumeCon.
