Hello cosplay peeps in Canada! I haven't used this website for ages and now it seems necessary that I must use this since I don't know any Canadian cosplayers (I'm from Texas btw) and this will be my first time attending!

Any places to eat and drink around the convention? Also, any planned photoshoots that people know? I know it's months away, but I don't want to be overwhelmed and be prepared of what's to come.

But what the heck, name's Franco Aguinot here. Nevermind the username, I made it back in my weeaboo phase haha!

Hello from Canada :D
Yes there is! I've been going to AN off and on, but I remember it decently. There's a Tim Hortons, Subway and places of the like literally at the con, or at least across the street so you don't have to go very far. There's also vendors at the con itself too, where you can get cold drinks and food as well but they're going to be a bit pricey. Never bought from there since I usually bring food from home, but just so you know.
There's also a Wendy's about a 15 minute walk away from the con.
As for photoshoots, sometimes people post their service specifically for Anime North so you have to book with them (needless to say). Some people do, but it depends. I don't see many photographers (at least not here) for Canadian cons, mostly American.
At the con, you'll get a booklet with panels and info about photoshoots as well, so maybe you can catch a few the first day. I don't know about any specific photoshoots, but I know Yugioh, Pokemon and Digimon will most likely be the popular ones that will be there.

Edit:

Also forgot to mention, the Tea House of the Maple Moon is your number one place to check out photoshoots, and any other info so you can be in the know in the leading months.

Been attending for over 10 years.

There is a guide book that comes with your badges but you can also see it earlier on the guidebook app. I think it comes out a week before the con. There will be a ton of photoshoots for specific genres if you want to jump in on those. Most of the time they are well organized. There are a ton of volunteers that can help you out too.

For eating places, definitely go to Harvey's if you enjoy burgers and want a quick, affordable meal. They're an Ontario-based chain we have up here and there's one right next to the Congress Centre, and they honestly have some of the best burgers ever, IMO!
