I keep seeing this ad for tap plastics beside the forum, but I can't seem to find out what each product is for or how to use them each properly. Has anyone used these?
I'm making a spear for my Undyne cosplay and my friend suggested using wood but would one of these things be a better alternative?

I clicked on the ad and don't seem to have any trouble seeiing it...the tap plastic is a jar of beads that you can mold into whatever shape you want using heat. It retains the shape once its cooled down. It'll turn clear when heated, and turn white when its cooled. I've never used it, but am familiar with thermoplastics. You can paint the wood blue, and to make it look like its glowing you can add some LEDs, if you want. There is also clear pvc pipes, and add some LEDs inside for the glow, so you'll end up with something like this: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/bb/25/06/bb250625f2d854918a5f7325e232fb36.jpg

Instashape (anotehr brand is instamorph) is small pellets that can be heated up and molded into a shape. Most of the pictures though are worbla, which is a sheet that can be heated and molded into a shape or cover a base such as foam.

TapPlastics is just the seller of these two things. They also carry other plastic products.

If you don't have the skills/tools to work with wood I'd avoid it. We'll need to see a picture of what you're hoping to make in order to make the best suggestions

However if you plan to do something more detailed than just a triangle head on the end of a staff, please post a reference image. That way we can offer you the best suggestion.

wood replacement handles for rake or shovel work fine
but you can also go with PVC pipe aswell
as long as you dont mind the flex, or plan on having a large heavy spear head

as far as tapplastics goes, very little of what they sell will do for a handle
(it will be to brittle)
but depending on the head shape, you could use acrylic sheet
instashape, or a couple other products

but its much cheaper to check the hardware stores before buying online
(shipping makes projects non cost effecient)

as for a guide on materials, give this a look, it dont have everything
but gives a general overview for commonly used products

Basically what DIGIT said. Tap Plastics is a store, not a type of material. It's a store that sells multiple types of plastic that can be used for a large variety of things.
