Hello! I'm kinda new to this forum, so sorry if I'm posting this on the wrong thread. I want to cosplay as Mikoto from Rune Factory Tides of Destiny and I need some advice for what I should do for her shoes. I thought about modifying a japanese Okobo (hope I'm not getting the name wrong), but not only would it look a bit strange, these kind of shoes are not the most practical ones to wear at a convention...

Honestly I'd buy some platform boots and cut out the toes & trim up the top.

If you have access to woodworking tools, these could easily be made from scratch by shaping and carving out a solid block of wood, or by stacking layers of wood together then sanding to shape. Dense EVA foam, stacked to size, would work as well and not be as heavy but you'd lose some durability.

Okobo have an angle cut from them in the front, so that kind of shoe may not be the best base to work from. Your character is wearing ukon geta. You also may be able to find some platform sandals to modify.
