If this isn't the right place to post, let me know!

Hello everyone! So, I'm working on one of my very first couple of cosplay, this one just happens to be Steven Universe related. I wanted to cosplay as Lapis Lazuli, and I'm really excited, but I'm also struggling a little. I have found the perfect wig, make up, possibly even her gem. But I can't seem to find the right dress.

I don't know if anyone else has done a Lapis cosplay before and might point to me where I can possibly find one? I am a fairly petite person, so sizes should not be too much of a problem. Sadly, I don't know much about sewing, but it might be the path I'll be heading to, making my own dress [top/skirt]

The only website I found where one can commission a Lapis dress if over at FM-Anime, but the dress is about $75 plus shipping, I'm not sure if it's quite worth it, even if it looks like a high quality dress. I mean, her dress isn't too complicated, I feel like the price should be lower? I don't know, it might be just me. I hope I don't sound too picky, I just really would like this cosplay to come out at its best!

But any tips or suggestions would be great!
If you're interested in perhaps doing it as a commission, let me know, I'll possibly send my email to you.

It's been a while since I've seen an ep with Lapis so I had to look her outfit up.$75 plus shipping is a bit much for that and you could easily do it cheaper. Looking at it I think you'd be better off looking for a low back dress and either cutting it to be a skirt/top combo or making a sort of belt to match the color of her skin. The dark blue part you could probably do with fabric paint.

Awesome! Thank you for replying and giving me some ideas! I'll definitely be searching around to see if I can find a dress similar for a much cheaper price. I thought that the price was a bit over the top. Perhaps if it included shipping, I would have considered it more, but I can't really afford much right now. Thanks again for the suggestions, I'll see what I can do!
