I'm planning on making new boots for my Sailor Mercury cosplay based on these instructions: http://www.nyunyucosplay.com/?page_id=938

Edit: I actually like this tutorial better: http://www.viciouscosplay.com/tutorials/stretchboots/

I'm having trouble deciding what style shoe to sacrifice for this endeavor. The options I'm looking at are:
http://www.payless.com/womens-dani-mary-jane-pump/74236.html
https://www.shoesforcrews.com/sfc3/index.cfm?route=c_store.compareProducts&products=3611,3614,3706

Edit: Another sacrificial shoe option: http://www.payless.com/womens-brittany-block-heel/77660.html

I'm leaning towards the SFC Jackie or the Payless [strike]Dani Mary Jane[/strike] Brittany Block Heel because of how the toes are shaped. I've also been considering pretty much obliterating the uppers and using only the soles, but that may be more trouble than it's worth.

Edit: The Brittany Block Heel is cheaper than the Dani Mary Jane, and is very similar in shape.

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure how much help I can be considering I'm using her other Mercury tutorial, but I'd definitely say don't bother with the Payless ones if you're using them as-is. The strap is going to make them difficult to get into when the cover's glued down.

I usually use old shoes if I'm going to alter them. I like to check out thrift stores or sacrifice old shoes from my closet.

I did say that the upper may not be completely intact through the process, right? >_>

Thank you, but that wasn't what I was asking at all. The question was "Which out of these four should I use?" not a more general "What should I do?"
