I know it's a bit early, but I was wondering what everyone was planning?

As for me, I'm planning Rapunzel from Tangled, A Punk version of Sailor Moon, Tauriel from The Hobbit, and Asuna from Sword Art Online

My only 2 definite plans right now are Flemeth from Dragon Age II (with a Morrigan) and Raleigh from Pacific Rim at the aquarium (with a Mako), but I've got a bunch of "maybes" including Dany from Game of Thrones, Thorin, Peter Quill, and like 3/4 more Dragon Age characters haha.
I'll probably narrow it down to a shorter list by summer.

I keep going back and forth with adding Lulu from FFX. I can't make so many decisions!!!! lol!

It's cool to see lotr/hobbit costumes! I have never been to DCon and very excited. I will be bringing some Battlestar Galactica and hobbit cosplay as well! I would like to see if we can get a hobbit group together.

Awww, well... I'll be an elf so I couldn't join you hobbits, though I would still love to get pictures with you!

Me too if I end up making Thorin for DragonCon! I'm sure there'll be a meetup for Tolkien cosplayers one of the days.

That'd be great! So happy to see that there's interest in Tolkien already :3

So I've never been to DragonCon, and I REALLY wanna go (Ill get there at some point, we'll see where money is) but for returners, how much is it western cosplays vs anime? From what I know DragonCon tends to be a bit more of a mature demographic in cosplays, so I'm rather curious....Also itll help me plan a bit more for the future in when I go :P

Thank you!

This is my first dcon that I'll bemail attending, and let me tell you, there are no more host hotels avaliable. It seems that it's a rathere a huge thing. I'm so excited.

I've got 4 new costumes planned for myself, and 2 new planned for my husband.

Myslef: Loki (Loki: Agent of Asgard), 10th Doctor Blue Suit (Doctor Who), Lorna Dane (All New X-Factor), and Femme 4th Doctor (Doctor Who). I may bring along my Punk Pinkie Pie (MLP:FiM), just to have for a relatively simple costume to run around in.

Hubby: Thor (Thor: God of Thunder), Doctor Strange (Classic Doctor Strange Comics). He'll be bringing along his 11th Doctor, and possibly another few past costumes.

This will be our second DragonCon - the first being in 2013, which was an absolute blast. We've got a room at the Westin (one of the host hotels), which is a lovely hotel - just a bit quieter than the Hyatt, Mariott, or Hilton, but still with access to DragonCon TV.

What kind of costumes you see can depend a little bit on what area/time of day you are in. Since the convention is spread over 5 Host hotels and at least 1 other building, different costumes might be more concentrated closer to the Track they are related to - but I saw a pretty good spread of costumes all over the place - most of them concentrated in the Mariott and the Hilton lobby from what I saw. Anime was pretty well represented in a lot of ways - but so was Star Wars, Star trek, Video Games, Comics, and a whole host of original costumes milling about. Anime wouldn't be out of place - but very little is entirely out of place at DragonCon. Night time at DragonCon gets a bit more adult in regards to costumes - body paint is common, and so are more revealing costumes.

Also, if you have never been, I highly suggest checking out the Night at the Georgia Aquarium - a DCon exclusive event (costs a little extra to get tickets) on Saturday night. Lots of costumes, dancing, and photo ops - and a generally spiffy aquarium that has some awesome things to see.

I'm really excited to start working on things, and can't wait to get there and show all my costumes off. :D

This will be my second year attending and I'm super excited! Not sure what my plans are given that they usually change a million times before the con comes around, but I'll likely have my Dragon Age elf Inquisitor for the parade and big DA shoot once I make that. And potentially a new Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite since I'm in the process of making that too. Who knows!

But after last year, I know that any costumes I do for night time party time will consist of something nice and cool. It tends to become quite sweltering, even in normal clothes. Might make a Mass Effect Shepard dress just for that.
