Picture of the Day

  • Hey! I am not a trouble-free image poster thanks to this forum!

I composited multiple images of fireworks to make the composition nicer. I also altered the color of some of them for more variety and contrast.

This is where I will be living in November for a while; Boracay island in the Philippines. Then I can take more photos like this one! Ahhhhh

  • I saw both too eventually...Fixed it! I hope you will post some too TykeJack.

  • glad it's fixed

  • No longer on flickr so these links are deleted.

  • How fortunate to fine blue available light at night!

    Very cool photo op Surfsama!

It's a good thing the cosplayers had orange-tipped fire-arm replicas, especially with the police right there....It's a felony not to have orange tipped guns in public.

I feel just uploading images to my account is enough, but to satisfy a request here's one.

  • Thanks for fulfilling my request. It's a beautiful shot, as I eluded to in your gallery. The lighting really enhances the look. Her shadow is very dramatic as it fills in negative space. Her pose is quite sexy...and let's not forget to mention how cool and well-made her costume is!

Your watermark looks very elegant. The cursive, embossed signature adds class.

Thank you for the kind words Bruce!!!

  • Kind words ooze out of me when I am not too busy defending the galaxy from Hecklers pretending like they know art. Your work deserves praise TykeJack.

  • That's a beautiful shot of a wonderful cosplayer TykeJake. I have a few shots of her but nothing near as nice or with that background.

Thank you very kindly and it's TykeJack because my name is Tyke Jackson, or of course, you can just call me Tyke. I like the image alright but felt I kinda had to make due because it was night and there was very little light available. I was careful not to cut out the shadow but was surprised at how powerful an element it really was. Spif was actually posing for a friend of hers while they were waiting to meet up with some other friends and they said I could take some pictures while they waited. I also have another picture (The Brilliant Silver) though it is a little more stylistic and doesn't accurately display her costume color. Originally, this image was lit with the same blue light that was in the first one, but in LightRoom I desaturated all the blue and it gave me a near black and white image look with a little bit of color. The result was her looking almost silver, and not just silver but bright and luminous, therefore I titled it The Brilliant Silver.

  • I like the blueish hue on her skin Tyke. I am going to guess you had her tilt her head up to catch the modeling of highlights and shadows on her face a certain way, since the key light was high up. I like the effect. Her 3/4 angle pose is also flattering to show her curves. The symetrical background has a good visual appeal, especially with the gold colors mixed into the blue.

Here are some photos from a book I am involved in contributing to called "Girls of Action".
