It's that time of the year again, folks! It's when the days become shorter, the leaves begin to change color and fall to the earth, and the Frog Pond in the Commons opens its doors to ice skaters!!

There will be two dates for the meetup(s):

Saturday, December 13 at 1:00pm will be for winter-themed cosplays.
Saturday, December 20 at 1:00pm will be for holiday-themes cosplays.

Bring yourself, your costume, and your sense of balance to the meet-up. If your attire doesn't match that of the designated date, then that's fine! Anyone is welcome to attend in whatever they're wearing.

Those who show up by 1pm can gather outside of the Park St. station that is across the street from 7-11. Park St. is a stop off the T on both the Green Line and Red Line. The meet-up will likely last for at least a few hours, so attendees may come as go as it pleases.

If anyone is interested in going out to eat after ice skating, or doing another activity, that may be discussed as well.

You don't *have* to come in costume, but then how much fun would that really be?

"But Astro, how much will this cost me?": Admission is $4.00. If you do not own ice skates, you may rent a pair for an additional $8.00. You also have the opportunity to rent a locker for $1.00, and buy various snacks and hot drinks at the rink.

For more info, http://www.bostoncommonfrogpond.org/hours.htm is the place to go.

And on an unrelated note to the ice skating meet-up, there is a carousel established at the Frog Pond until Sunday, November 9th.

Last year, I think everyone did NOT make it to the event, due to the weather. This year should be decent skating weather (hopefully!). You better be there... or else!! >:3

I wanted to bring it up last week, but I thought it would be best to wait until the Tokyo Kid event had ended.

Since I didn't have the change to wear Ruri last year, I'll debut her at the Frog Pond this year instead. I've been prepared for over a year!

If the costume wasn't so skimpy, I'd suggest a Christmas-esque version of Rikku. Otherwise, CLAMP is pretty good when it comes to producing Christmas artwork of their various characters. I know Fuu has an outfit!

I have to sharpen my iceskates and fiigure our what I'm making myself. =) I may do a christmas town version Kairi (I'm thinking like one of the elfs in the santa village when you cross over from halloween town), one of the girls from the love hina christmas thing, or just a really cute wintery lolita outfit.

Or just see something I love and suprize you all! =)

Oh~ I was also thinking about this and what to cosplay. I can't wait for this even though I really can't skate, so mabye I should go for a clumsy character?
I think I'll go as someone from Ouran High School Host Club. Since they're always changing clothes I'm bound to find or mess with something.

I'm all for the suprise! Although, I bet a Yuletime Lolita would be adorable!

Lol, when I think "clumsy character" on ice, I think Usagi on ice skates (which was done in an episode of Sailor Moon). Even if you're just a winterized version of a character, that works!

My hope was to have the event on the 13th, and save the 20th for a "rain date" (in this case, I suppose it would be considered a "snow date" or a "the temperature is at freezing point! date"). If the event is on the 20th and the weather is bad, then there is no other date to host the event on until after Christmas.

If more people opt for the 20th, then the date of the skating event may be reconsidered. But for now, and to prevent any confusion, it stays at the 13th.

#12 Crystal Clover on 10 years ago

I agree with you on the rain date. We had alot of bad weather last year causing this event to pretty much fail.

I woke up with inspiration! I know what I'll be and its so obvious that i can't believe i didn't think of it earlier! Now lets see if i can keep it a surprise :D

I've never actually gone to one of these before, usually finals are happening.

And I totally agree that we should save one weekend for a rain date. Especially since the later in December we get, the more likely it is that there'll be snow. I'd even suggest the 6th as a possibility, since then we'll get two rain dates, and it's slightly less likely to be freezing cold. Though I guess that gives people less time to work on costumes too...

I'm all for doing stuff after ice skating. In December there's likely to be some Christmas movies playing, and there's a theater right next to the common. Or we could head over to the Prudential food court for eats.

For costumes, I'm not sure I'll have time/moneys to make something new by then, so I might just add Christmasy things (santa hat, scarf) to one of my existing costume. If I'm able to, though, I might try to see if I can find a super simple Christmas costume to make. We'll see!

Either way, definitely going to try to make it!
