Just a quick note, here's a list of conventions in Southern California for the rest of the year :)

~~Although it's over now, the first May of every year is free comic book day! Most comic book stores participate.
Wow I've never heard about this! :O
AM-Squared: June 15th-17th at the Anaheim Convention Center. Haven't been personally, but I've heard great things about it. It's the same founders as Anime Expo.
So this I have heard of. I might go, though I need to convince my mother or earn more money for some sort of transportation there.
Anime Expo: June 29th-July 2nd at the LA Convention Center. The convention to go to for anime fans apparently. I haven't been since they moved from Anaheim due to a waning interest in Anime/Manga, but it's THE convention to go to for Anime fans ;)
I really want to go to this!!! :/
Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo: September 15-16 at the LA Convention Center. It's the second year, and Stan himself is now the official sponsor! Much smaller scale, but a super friendly atmosphere.

Conjecture: October 5-7 at the Town and Country in Mission Vallery: I think it's run by the same people as Anime Conji, although it's theme leans more toward scifi/fantasy.
Never heard about these.
November 3rd-4th: Long Beach Comic Con at the Long Beach Convention Center. I LOVE this small convention! Already have my hotel booked.
I've wanted to go to this too! And a day before my birthday xD
There's also Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disneyland, a ticketed which allows anyone regardless of age to dress up at the park and includes special events, rare character meet and greets, a Halloween parade, and trick-or-treat stations.

Hope this helps!
I went to this last year! It was sooo much fun seeing everyone all dressed up! :D I took pictures with some of the theme park villains that were there! :D

I'll probably be at every comic/sci fi convention this year, lol. And then in February is Gallifrey One, and the cycle starts again XD

That's cool! I hope to go to more conventions this year, if not, then next year! :)

I'm actually thinking about going to Anime Vegas, only because I have a brother who lives in Vegas so if I can go I'd ask him if I could spend the night there and the PLUS part of it is that I'll get to finally visit him! He can't always come and see us because he works a lot and he moved over there to be with his son :'(

Oooh~! A San Diego board that isn't filled to the brim with advertisements and such! I'm in the Southern California area and I attend AX and CC. I've also done some traveling with Kawaii Kon in Hawaii and Otakon in Maryland. I used to know a lot of people in the cosplay world and then I moved and CC got super expensive and I feel like people dropped off the earth. D: And I'm sad.

I've only done anime/ book cosplays so far. But I really want to get into some Comic-type cosplays. >_

I'm personally not IN IN San Diego, but I'm in the SD county. I used to go to SDCC for a few years but like La Tulipe, it got to expensive. I now go to Anime Expo and I'm going to AM2 this year. I have attended SoCal cosplay gatherings run by Naru (which she hasnt hosted in in two years :( ).

Yeah not many people cosplay anymore in CC because of the prices that jumped big time! A lot of people go there a lot more now because of the convention holding movies/tv shows panels. I mean I love going to those too but I'd really wish it wasn't so darn expensive :/ wow you went to Kawaii Kon and Otakon! :O

I'm planning on going to AM2 too because it's free :) and I'd like to visit other cons besides CC. I've never been to a cosplaying gathering or group.

#23 La Tulipe Noire on 7 years ago

Yes, they do go. And it's really disappointing because going to CC now has become sort of a trendy thing. Even if you don't like comics, you're 'cool' if you go to Comic-con. It's so over-run, I remember going when you could buy tickets the day of! It's nice for all the famous-ish people I guess, but it kind of takes away from the whole experience when half the people there look at you like you're crazy if you're in costume. Well, I go to school in Hawaii so that wasn't hard to attend. xD And Otakon I have friends out there so I went to visit. AX is fun, last year was my first year~

#24 LinkPwnsGanon on 7 years ago

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I see a bunch of people that are there that I have never seen there before that wouldnt go there if it wasn't for the famous people. Well I like see the famous people as well but I see a ton of other stuff as well. Last year when I went I saw a girl/lady wearing a candy corn outfit that you buy from party city. I kinda felt bad hoping that someone tricked her into wearing it. There are more non cosplayers every year and less cosplayers. And they usually hang out up stairs.
If I had a way to get to AX I would sooo go! And isn't AX less expensive than CC?

#25 La Tulipe Noire on 7 years ago

Yes. We all used to meet at Ballroom 20! And now security is so tight and people are so crazy there there isn't a place to rest or sit.. Or socialize. It's keep moving, get out of the way, don't sit there. I like seeing the famous people, but I'd never stand and wait in those lines.. Unfortunately that makes it pretty repetitive.
A train should get you in the area of AX, xD I think? AX is much less expensive, especially with the price raises, though it's the hotel you have to worry about~

#26 LinkPwnsGanon on 7 years ago

Yeah I hate that I can't really stop for one second to take someone's photo. :/ Are there still tickets for AX even on the days of the expo?

#27 LinkPwnsGanon on 7 years ago

La Tulipe Noire: Did you happen to go to Comic-Con in 2010 cosplaying as Yuki Sohma along with a person as Kyo Sohma?

#28 La Tulipe Noire on 7 years ago

I know! I've totally stopped asking to take people's pictures at CC. D: It isn't worth getting yelled at. Um.. There should still be tickets for AX, it doesn't really sell out like CC does. I think they're still doing a 'pay at the door' type. And if they do that thing they did last year after around 3:00? They opened to the hall to everyone even if they didn't have a ticket.

Mm..2010. Maybe? I can't remember years, but yes I had a Kyo with me.

#29 LinkPwnsGanon on 7 years ago

I get few pictures every year :P I really want to attend Anime Expo, I'll just have to wait and see.

I think I took your picture before, I'm not so sure...I'll upload a pic later since I'm not home.

#30 La Tulipe Noire on 7 years ago

I get a few pictures of my friends? xD Well, I enjoyed AX a lot and met a few new people there. There are ways of getting up there, just gotta sneak through the system~

Really? :O Wow! Well, I'm totally flattered and honored that you thought enough of our cosplays to take a picture. If it is us! My pictures look like 2010, so maybe! We wanted to get a whole group, and we had a lot of people but they all fell through last minute. D:
