• So sony's going to announce something for Playstation Plus members today at their presser and it's supposed to be big. Rumors circulating are that it's the Gaikai PS1 and PS2 BWC streaming solution. There was a big to-do about signing up for PS+ before 9pm est today. So if you have your "I got hacked" PS+ credit lying around, it may be very useful to cash those in today.

Also, Nintendo's mini-presser yesterday...geeze. I find it amazing that they still put the sticks in different positions than everyone else. That can't be comfortable.

New Gears game confirmed to be "GoW: Judgement". It's by "People Can Fly", looks to be a prequel of shorts. The Gears franchise is a guilty pleasure of mine, so I'll probably end up picking it up.

Yo a female black/french protag? That's a step in the right direction. Too bad it's a Vita title :/

With this out of the way, the Nintendo keynote should be chock full of software annoucements and MEGATON news. Of course, the big N will make a liar out of me.

  • LOLOL Microsoft presser. Actually it wasn't that bad, it was just a bit silly. IE 9, especially in it's current state, and a tablet assistant program is hardly megaton news. But expecting anything huge would be silly. There's already a lot of good stuff to look forward at the end of the year that'll be shown at other pressers and Microsoft is clearly working on the next xbox which they'll show next year. The people who thought they'd get new consoles this year are diluted.

Pretty much. I called the majority of that presser with the exception of the lack of GTA. I figured that would have been the megaton.

I just effing wish they did more for ACTUAL KINECT GAMES! Aside from like Child of Eden, Gunstringer, and the upcoming Steel Battalion and Crimson Dragoon, there seems to be nothing but dancing/mini-game nonsense dropping.

  • Another thing I noticed that they demoed all of these huge games, but except for Halo 4, they were all multiplatform. I think MS is beginning to realize that outside of Halo, Gears, and Forza they have pretty much nothing exclusive for the core gamer anymore, which is why they have to do things like moneyhat limited dlc exclusivity for BlOps 2, RE6, Splinter Cell, Tomb Raider etc. It's hard to watch all of those demos and not think "why are they showcasing this game when it's also on PS3 and sometimes PC, and maybe even Wii U?"

I agree with Mesoian, it was definitely better than the last couple of E3 pressers from MS, and any other year that would be fine. But I think Sony and especially Nintendo will have far more impressive announcements and more importantly show off far more exclusive stuff, and MS will end up yet again with the bronze medal.

Sony needs a goddamn miracle to be anything but irrelvant this year. God of War, Kart racing, Sony Smash Bros and Naughty Dog do not make for an impressive presser.

That being said, "Winning" E3 is fairly worthless at this point. The 360 is the best selling console in the world, and as long as they have that strong 3rd party and the BEST online service, that's not going to change.

Those three small 2nd party games are all Kinect games. I cannot tell you how far my jaw was dropping during that LocoCycle trailer, being like, "OH MY GOD THIS CAN'T BE! NOT IN 2012 CAN TRAILERS BE THIS BAD!" And then Twisted Pixel's logo came up and I was all, "OH THANK GOD!" And Wrecketeer is fun, I played it back at PAX. I just don't know if it has legs.

Especially seeing as how the new God Of War looks terribad. Nintendo's already won e3 in that they'll have something genuinely different and exciting. The only company with real surprises is them this year.

Really? Thank god for the 2nd party then.

And Nintendo's gonna have to do something really impressive to win me back at this point. Microsoft reversed trolled the Big N w/ Smart Glass, so Nintendo is going to need more than Mario/Zelda/Wiinonsense. Like maybe some new IPs? Or revamping some old one? OR I DUNNO, METROID?

Probably. But I'll tell you right now, if that StarFox Vs. Metroid thing is true, Nintendo is doomed.

Edit: Ugh, summer of arcade sucks this year. The only thing I really want is Dust.

SFvM would RUIN me as a person. Also the fanart that it would lead to would be horrifying.

And yea, Dust played like a dream at PAX East, but I could not give a toss about the other games on that list.

  • Oh god, Ubisoft's presser is so fucking french! French in the worst way possible!

EDIT: OH MY GOD! Okay, Ubisoft is winning e3. Watch_Dogs looks AMAZING!

  •
EDIT: OH MY GOD! Okay, Ubisoft is winning e3. Watch_Dogs looks AMAZING!
This. So fucking this.

Also Starwind, I know you dude, and let's be honest, as soon as Nintendo shows all that awesome Mario and Metroid and Wii U HD goodness up on the stage, you'll be a quivering fanboy screaming at Nintendo to take their money just like the rest of us :)

  • So yeah, Sony. Loved Last of Us, Ass Creed 3, and Beyond. Was okay with Far Cry and God of War. Loled at PS All Stars Smash Battle Royal Brothers Brawl.

    But WONDERBOOK. UGUENWJQNRjnvjor3njv3njmidei....

  • I think someone at Sony forgot that the average reader age for Harry Potter is 17. Why are you making kids toys for a teenage market?

Still not sold on Playstation: smash brothers.

Last of Us looks amazing though. i'll pick that up. God of War seems incredibly meh. That one might be an eyeopener for Sony, that trying to milk your franchises isn't a good idea.

That opening reel where they were showing games that are already known to be bad, were third party and not being shown at e3 period, or had been on shelves for 3 months already made me cringe. And no sly. SMH sony...

  • A summary of Microsoft's presentation: Sequels, sequels everywhere. And more sports programming. And Nickelodeon. And Univision. And it seems they've either left Kinect to rot or they officially do not know what to do with it anymore. Oh, and Tomb Raider has become Uncharted plus a severe IQ drop for Lara Croft, who has now become reckless and clumsy. And I hope you like quick-time events, cause Resident Evil 6 is FULL OF 'EM {what, did you expect Capcom to NOT fuck it up somehow?}.

Yeah, sounds like Sony and Nintendo don't even really have to try this year.
