As a girl, what do you guys think about girls cosplaying guys with facial hair?

do you do it? leave it off? put it on?

It's part of the character, so do it. A female Alex Louis Armstrong, Radi Jaeger, Swaine, or Gym Leader Blaine without their facial hair would look just.... odd. Even if a construction paper mustache or something.... something to look accurate. In a similar stance, a guy doing Morrigan, Vert, or I dunno, Beatrice, would need to work on creating cleavage.

Of course, you can cosplay without these features, but if it just stands out on one character, it's best emulating it if you can.

Sometimes I crossplay characters for the sole reason that it gives me an excuse to do facial hair (see: Tony, Turkey, eventually Wolverine...).

I do it when I cosplay Mugen (Samurai Champloo). 'Course, he just has a small stubble on his upper lip and a tiny bit on his chin, but I still consider it a pretty defining feature of his design, so I feel like I have to add it, haha.

I always do, to me cosplay is about emulating a character as close as you can, and if it involves facial hair then yes. For me even characters that don't have obvious facial hair still get a shadow (I really love how it throws people because it looks like you've shaved to get into character, it adds that extra mystery).

Yup, if the cosplay needs me to have facial hair then it's going to happen. It's just hard sometimes because I have a more childlike face some facial hair just doesn't look right on me.

Facial hair is usually an important element of the character - so I'd say leave it on unless you have an issue where you really don't want to.

Cosplay is something where you have to make choices and some people do for comfort or other reasons and that's okay.

But if you're trying to be accurate and not the "girl version" of said character there's really no reason not to do the facial hair.

I would say go all out!

I saw an FMA group this weekend with a female cast and Maes Hughes.

I didn't even notice that Hughes (who has facial hair) was actually a female until she spoke.

Well facial hair is usually a defining factor of a character. It might look weird for a certain character to not have facial hair. If you don't feel comfortable with it, don't do it, but you might want to rethink about if you actually want to cosplay as that character or not.
