It is a crazy idea but yes, I wanna make a cosplay of Sin from FFX.

However, I have no expertise in making outfits just props in a budgetwise manner.

But this won't stop me I wanna enjoy and wreck the cities of Spira only to call any FF cosplayer to face me!

So..Where do I start in making this? o__O

Uh... well, it depends. Do you want a full-body costume that's bulky and large? That seems like it would be more difficult, more expensive, and time-consuming. You could make a human version of Sin, which might be interesting, but would require the joyless activity of 'thinking'.

also, if I ever see you at a convention while I'm cosplaying as Yuna (or her genderbend), can I Final Summon your face off?

The entire WHALE Sin. I got the concept of making the fins and tail my problem is what material is best and how do I even make the head and body?

Well, I guess I don't have any advice for you, then. All I can say is good luck, and I'd love to see pics when you're done! <3

D: Awwww. Is there any way to make other than sewing cause I'm not a sewing guy and most techniques of making a whale shape is using fabric.

Hot glue is always a dummy proof option.

As I said to you earlier online, a paper clay over paper machet method would probably work best for you.

Follow Jia's tutorial and it will give you a few ideas :D

If you pulled this off you would be my favourite cosplayer of all time.

He looks pretty different at different parts of the game depending on which bit of him you're seeing, but I would recommend going for how he looks when he perches on bevelle (i think thats where he does it, cant really remember though, its been a looong time)

Crappy image but its the only one I could find.

No idea how you would pull it off but it would look awesome if you did!

Okay anyone have some specific design or pattern?

Err for something pretty big like that, papermache methods are going to weight you down like mad.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xkvrpv9FLp4 It would probably need to go about the same sort of design as Deathwing cosplay

Really looking forward to this~ :) It's too bad you didn't live closer, a whole group of us are doing the Aeons from FFX for next year, at Anime North (Canada).

Agreeing with everyone that paper mache would probably be your best/cheapest bet. You could also look into using foam floor mats (the ones that sort of look like huge puzzle pieces), or yoga mats. It'll be a little more flexible, and no sewing required, just lots of glue. Downside, is it'll be incredibly hot, so make sure to add ventilation, like at the joints or something. Hope it helps! Best of luck on this awesome costume! :D

um, my sis and I were joking around about random gag cosplays we could do to school that only friends would get and one funny one we came up with was the craftfoam peak-caps that aquariums seel where the peak looks like a whale... anyways, we never used the idea (or the sign that said "I <3 Yu Yevon") but I just realized you could use that as a starter... make his whale-like head on a peak-cap kinda thing and his "face" could fall over your face like a mask... then his body would extend off the back over your head and fall down your back like those Chinese Dragon puppet thingys you see in chinese New year (they're sooo cool!)... so yeah... that's the carftiest way I can think of making it with los=tsa glue, paint, cardboard and craft foam... and an old hat. you can just wear full black clothes with it to get ppl to ignore the rest of you... (soz I'd draw it out so you can get my weird idea better but I'm lazy :/) I think it could be your most interesting (and easy to make accurately) cosplay while not dying of heatstroke or getting beached :P here's the official art of sin, and a screenshot where he opens his four fin like thingies :P hoep this all helps! and good luck!
