How did it all go for you guys? I had a wonderful time! I'll be posting my pics soon.

So exhausted. But it was AMAZING. Oh man everybody wanted my photo, I could not move on the floor!

#3 Saltpeter on 4 years ago

I couldn't find you, div. ;_;

But I had a profoundly good time there. There was this group of League cosplayers who sorta just coalesced on Friday, grew to about 20 by Saturday, and we were all friends by the end.

I have literally thousands of pictures. I'll have to locate highlights. As soon as my friend sends me the pics from his camera, I can at least get the pic with Sona. ^-^

My thoughts on it could span pages, but I'm way too sore and tired to post it all now. I just got back from Philadelphia. ;>.>

Easily the best NYCC in years.

I agree. Had an amazing time. :)

For real. I'm not sure what changed for 2014, but it just felt like a better show. It must be the Fraction effect, I'm sure.

Also glad to here that Special Edition is confirmed to return in 2015.

I know, right? It was just better. Had a lot of great chats with artists, never felt rushed or crushed compared to last year, got a couple super great commissions.

Ditto, SE was a great little con! Artists' Alley is my favorite part of NYCC, so it was pretty solid IMO. :)

A lil bummed that the homie Jamie McKelvie doesn't do commissions apparently, but I did get an awesome amount of free sketches this year. So I can complain really.

And yessss, NYCC's AA is THE BEST, so doing an old school con around that is a great idea. Hopefully they can find a month to do it in next year that won't conflict with another con (psss, May)

One of my non-cosplay-related highlights was talking to Kieron Gillen. He's probably better known nowadays for his graphic novels, but I wanted to talk to him about an article he wrote in PC Gamer ten years ago about my favorite video game character. ;>.> He's, like, the only person who see SHODAN the way I see her. I bet he wasn't expecting anyone to talk to him about THAT. We swapped game recommendations for games with good stories in them. His rec was Planescape: Torment, mine was Spec Ops: The Line.

I just wish there was more time. More days of con, longer days, more time between for sleeping and eating (and in my case, running), I had so much fun but felt rushed.

Next year I really gotta be more diligent with my costume construction and not cram it all into the last minute...

And also gotta figure out a good costume to wear while shooting photos. I put off doing any photography until Saturday and Sunday, and even then I didn't shoot as much as I wanted. Didn't have time to look at any of my (digital) shots until Monday, and by then it was too late to realize my mistakes and correct them. BUT next convention, strobes all the time..

Kieron Gillen is so awesome. I actually ran into him a million times this con. We went to his spotlight panel, then found him the next day at the Avatar booth so my boyfriend could get a signature and tell him how Uber got him into comics, and then saw him yet again in AA. I picked up his new comic, The Wicked and the Divine.

Never enough time! Either for costume making or con-seeing. It is an impossible proposition.

I was there all four days and I am still recovering.

Andy Lanning drew me some custom art. Turn me over guys, I'm done. (I didn't ask, and he wouldn't let me pay. He just gave it to me because I was dressed as one of his characters)

Wow! Congratulations, hell for that amazing costume, I'd do the same. I'd pay just to see your costume in person again.

YES GOOD! I've had the pleasure of being a casual acquaintance of K-Gill for a few years, and Wic+Div is a fantastic book. I AM EXCITED FOR YOU.
