Captain America 'Civil War' Costume

This thread is archived.

  • Hey all,

A friend of mine is wanting to cosplay as Captain America as his very first dive into the cosplay world and he said that he wants a costume as close to the one that Chris Evans wears in the movies (probably unlikely) and I've helped him out in some ways by suggesting the likes of the whitesheepleather costume and the more expensive killerbody one which is closer to the screen used one than the whitesheepleather one is but apart from those two and a couple on Etsy, I don't really know of any other makers of Caps costume that would be close to the one in the movies and I thought as I'm a member on here, you awesome people might be able to help my friend out with some suggestions?

    Thanks a lot!

  • I have taken commissions for Cap's costumes before and never again.

They're expensive for a reason: the Marvel movie costumes are HARD. They have all kinds of superfluous seams that affect the fit, overlapping panels, still have to fit the actor skin-tight, and are made of expensive and hard-to-find materials. If your pal wants to just commission or buy and not even attempt to tackle it (I don't blame him) then he should simply steel himself for it to cost a buttload. I would never do one for under $800, and that's assuming I could even source the fabrics.

I can only imagine to be honest as from what I've seen, the Cap Civil War suit looks very complex. I think his best bet would to be to buy either the Whitesheep Leather or the Killerbody one as at least then, the main of the costume is done and at least he'll have a good base to start and then he can modify it as he so wishes. Thanks for the reply mate, much appreciated.
