Ideas for representing Personas?

This thread is archived.

  • Maybe it's just because searching for this topic is hard, phrasing-wise, but I'm trying really hard right now to try to figure out the best way to "show off" a character's persona without having someone else cosplaying with you?

The reason I need this is because I'm planning on going to Anime Expo with a bunch of people who have never played anything in the Persona series and therefore I'll be the only one cosplaying someone from it, if I choose to go with the character I'm thinking about. Problem is, that character is Tohru Adachi from P4, who isn't very... notable, appearance-wise.

Therefore, long story short, I'm trying to find a way to have Magatsu-Izanagi as a part of my cosplay without having someone else go with me as him, but I also want it to blend in well and not look to tacky. This could apply to any character with a Persona, so it'd also be nice to have for future reference. I've been drawing a blank entirely for this, so if no one has a good idea that's understandable.

(I also apologize in advance if this wasn't the place to post this. I'm weirdly paranoid about that, to be honest.)

  • Maybe carry the character's weapon? A couple of my friends actually did a mash-up as the characters cosplaying their personas. Like Yukiko wearing Konohana Sakuya's outfit sort of thing.

If you're afraid no one is going to recognize who you are, as Adachi, carry a cabbage? Or carry a sign saying, "Who wants to talk about murders?" Friends who I know that cosplay Adachi do either of those.

  • Adachi has the same persona (at least it looks the same anyway) as Yu (if you only played the game, they made the protagonist's name "Yu' in the anime) right? Looks just like Izanagi?

You could do a number of options. I'll make a list..
-Carry the spear thingy the persona uses like TMLiza said.
-Personal favorite, make a dummy (you can do this by getting a person taller than you to use and make a duct tape dummy form (you can google duct tape dress forms for similar things, but make it more full body and use a wig head for the head and so on). That way you can fill it with something light like fluff so you can carry it around dressed as the persona. Making him more heavy in the feet to stay standing.
-Get a plushie made of his. Since the color scheme is different than Izanagi, using that one might not be best, so having someone make one (if you can't) would be the best option that way.
-Carry a persona card around. Each persona has a card with it's picture and tarot card number it's affiliated with on it. There's a template to making them somewhere on this forum. But someone could photoshop this specific one if you can't.

When I played (as well as watched the anime for )persona 4, the cards were just slightly larger than a playing card. Even the cards i got in the Persona Q game as the free gifts were way too big (they are just slightly smaller than yours)
