The Last Ship costume/uniform

This thread is archived.

  • I'm a fan of the Last Ship TV series and the book of the same name. I am thinking of creating a costume from the show. Should I create an officer or enlisted rank? Comments?

  • Ok, I figured I will be an officer and enlisted...got to love velcro!

  • Finished my costume...I went with the solid blue type uniform(since I can't find the propper style of NWU)got my name, US Navy tapes online. Also found a dealer on ebay that makes custom command caps..so I got a baseball cap that is USS Nathan James..not exactly like the ones on the show but close enough.

  • I just watched it last night and getting caught up! Love the show as well... Was part reason it inspired me to do a NWU Stargate Uniform! We had joked around on some other boards and made SG-22 Navy team years ago, but I am rolling this bad boy out for Creation Chicago...

Star if you are serious about doing NWU based custom I can take care of that for you or help you! Shoot me a pm and it will be the real deal, I did the uniforms for years before I retired so it be as good as the show or better =)

  •
F305 pilot
Curious what that is exactly... ? :skidude2:

Guessing you mean a F-302 or BC-304 pilot?

I can help with your NWU issue!

  • I did notice on last weeks episode of The Last Ship..one of the main characters had the correct style pockets but had Velcro on the sleeves.

I think that's more of an ACU style shirt. As for having the correct logos..I don't really care if it did. Sportsman guide had bdu style Navy camp..but they were sold out.

  • a lot of the military's both the USA and the UK have gone to the shirts with Velcro areas on the sleeves , as far as i am aware it is meant for the easy application and removal of authorized patches and badges like unit or national flag

Velcro is kind of standard now on military uniforms. I been looking in my most recent Blue Jacket Manual for any rules or regs.

  • Sportsman Guide has a blue camo for sale. I got a set and they look close enough for me..they are missing the eagle, anchor and constitution...
