Okay, this is probably n00bish, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any good exercises that can be done with pets? Several months ago, my brother and his girlfriend adopted 2 dogs - a Pitbull and a Ridgeback. I love them to death and think of them as my "4-Legged Niece and Nephew."

But after today's failure at the gym - did Cardio for only 17 minutes and my Max Heart-rate was only 140 (I am 31 years old and weigh 223 Pounds), I was wondering if there were any exercises I could do with my "niece" and "nephew" besides jogging and walking?

They are both full of energy, so I will probably wear out before they do, but with my brother dieting and me losing weight as well, I was hoping to do something more "family" related. Any ideas or links?

for the rhodie, obsticle course training, remember its a no roughhousing breed
so nothing too aethletic (you dont want it doing rolls at full canter or talent show tricks)

pits are a mix bag, some are loafs, while other can be trained in obsticle or herding
also pits can be cart trained too

training can be physically demanding as well as mentally
for both sides, but for the dogs, its best to start young, but any "smart" dog can learn reguardless
(some dogs are just dopey and wont take to anything showy but can still make great therapy dogs)

therapy/companion dog training is also viable for both dogs
just that the rhodie would need a good run, since thier typically high activity

Don't under estimate the power of walking. Activity is activity. Have fun playing with your new nephew and niece.
