For example I was thinking of making a dress/outfit based on the feel of the song Hotel California by The Eagles I'm really excited! Has anyone ever done this? So you mean, you'll wear something that looks like a hotel?

I've done a costume based on a song. It was a steampunk wind-up doll based on a song by the steampunk band Abney Park. The song is called "Herr Drosselmeyer's Doll". I set about planning a costume based on the feel of the song and the lyrics. It's really fun to do because you get to just go to town and have fun creating something that gives you the feel you get from hearing the song.

I once did an original concept costume based on the Weird Al song Christmas at Ground Zero. Basically it was a 1950s looking man (Sweater vest, pipe, glasses), but not without wearing a gas mask, Christmas lights as a bandolier, and brandishing an oversized candy cane as a melee weapon, since the song is supposed to be a 50s style Christmas song about celebrating the holidays in the midst of a nuclear holocaust. I plan on doing it again this Christmas.
