What games are you looking forward to in 2012?

This thread is archived.

• Surprised that no one's made this yet. For me it's

1. Witcher 2, XBox port. I hear nothing but great things about this game. I don't have a PC for gaming, so I'm glad it's coming to one of the consoles.

2. Journey. Even though I wasn't a huge fan of Flow and some aspects of Flower actively annoyed me, what I've read about this sounds pretty fascinating.

3. The Last Guardian. Again, even though I thought Ico was only o.k. and I've decided not to play Shadow of the Colossus,
not interested in committing genocide and bringing someone back from the dead is never a good idea,
I'm still interested in seeing what Team Ico comes up with next.

4. I'm going to predict that I'll excited for Mass Effect 3 if I get around to playing 1 and 2 before March.

• I'll keep it simple and make it a top 5 for 2012

5) Diablo 3: Because, Diablo 3

4) Lollipop Chainsaw: Gunn, Suada and cheerleaders can only lead to amazing things.

3) Soul Calibur 5: Because I am dumb when it comes to money, and I love me some Soul Cal

2) Bioshock Infinite: ALL OF MY MONEY!

1) Mass Effect 3: Obvious number 1 is obvious.

•

not interested in committing genocide

Hahahah, don't play NieR, then...

•
Hahahah, don't play NieR, then...
I did play Nier. And I learned my lesson!

• Tales of Graces. Now if only they would import Tales of Xillia....

• Mass Effect 3

Final Fantasy XIII-2

BioShock Infinite

Diablo 3

hopefully Dragon Quest Rocket Slime 3DS coming out in 2012, meaning I finally get a 3DS, and I'm looking forward to Dragon Quest X even though it probably won't come out in America this year :x

Not to leave books which separate body from soul within your naive daughter's reach?

Not to play games that are depressing.

• 6.) Skullgirls - Capcom has lost it's way, but it's nice knowing that as we move into the Aztec end days, there are developers who remember how fighting games are supposed to act before the days of developers acting like rock stars and trolling their active fanbase. Skullgirls looks like it's taking the fighting genre and doing absolutely everything every fan wanted. It's super beautiful, the character design is quirky with a lot of cute fanservice, each character is wildly diverse, preventing a lot of, "Shoto" bias, and the fighting engine works in such a way that it allows seasoned veterans of fighting games to really try and exploit it, but never keeps newer players from getting too overwhelmed. Skullgirls is quickly shaping up to be the game I wanted Marvel Vs Capcom 3 to be, and that is tremendously exciting.

5.) SSX - This remake is looking fantastic, and the last trailer released made me go from being completely cold and cynical about it, to pre-ordering it immediately.

4.) FEZ - This game is going to come out you guys, and I'm going to play the crap out of it. I played a little of it at PAXEast last year and thought it was totally stellar. It's been given more than a year to cook, so I'm really interested to see where they go with it

3.) Mass Effect 3 - I feel like I'm the only one not crying and moaning and saying "ooh woe is me" concerning the stuff that's been shown about this game. I just want a good continuation from 2 and a nice tidy conclusion to the story and I'll be happy. Shepard needs to finish the fight.

2.) Syndicate - If I'm going to play a grimdark future shooter, I want to play a grimdark future shooter that's more along the lines of the cyberpunk style that I like. Dues Ex 3 was extremely good (until that ending...or THOSE ENDINGS rather) and I hope syndicate can keep that cpunk flavor fresh and hot. I'm also looking forward to XCOM in the same light, especially now that a proper sequel has been announced so purists can get off my ass about even thinking about playing that game.

1.) Bioshock Infinite - The likelihood of this game even being released this year is pretty slim, but from what I've been shown, I cannot wait to play this game. I have total faith in Ken Levine's team to transport me to another world that is both beautiful and alarmingly disturbing. Super interested in what's to come. I just hope they figure out their endings a bit sooner this time.

Special note: Anarchy Reigns, Soul Calibur 5, Asura's Wrath

• Diablo 3
Twisted Metal
Max Payne 3
Shadowrun
the new Tribes
Borderlands 2
STALKER 2 (IF it gets made at all...)

But the story was so gooooooooooooooooooooood....

• The Darkness 2, Guild Wars 2, and if they finish it in time, DotA 2.

This year seems like a massive disappointment so far. I'm hoping some possible surprise announcements will get things going. Too bad Doom 4 still hasn't been mentioned in Quakecon, so it's likely not going to be finished this year.

With the layoffs, i'd be surprised if it's finished by next year..

• 1)Mass Effect 3
I plan on playing till my eyes fall out of my head

2)Max Payne 3
Plan on drinking a bottle of scotch the entire play through to stay connected to his character

• 1. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
2. Asura's Wrath. HOLY SHIT, GO DOWNLOAD THAT DEMO. It's amazing, hilarious, and left me craving more... and I usually hate QTE games. It was like a DBZ game except actually good.
3. Lolipop Chainsaw
4. Anarchy Reigns if it's actually released this year.
