I'm not sure what our resident DQ fangirl mod's feelings are on this, but yay anyway!
Oof, I've been so busy at my new job that I didn't even see this thread.
I am psyched, but frustrated! The other DQ games that have come out for 3DS so far have zero announcements about coming to America. I am just so upset by the region locking on the 3DS, man. If this and Rocket Slime 3DS come out for this region, I'll be a happy camper.
Dragon Quest VII has a very special place in my heart. If nothing else, I'm using this as an excuse to finally make my DQ7 costume dreams come true in 2013. ;)
As long as they rebalanced the start game difficulty and allow me to...
Get Keifer and Aira back on my team, seriously, they made Keifer seem so important and he fucking leaves forever before you can even change classes.
I'll be happy with just that.
You mean having both of them at the same time, right? 'cause I thought
Aira stays until the end
.
No, Aira leaves and Maribel comes back, making your final party Hero, Gabo, Maribel and Melvin.
Oh, weird. I thought I got to the end! I guess I didn't. I have 130 hours on my save file and I still haven't beaten it. :( Now I don't have both discs, but I think I still have disc 2 and my memory card around if I can just get a working PS2 in my house.
I could be wrong, I haven't played it in bloody AGES.
Edit - OK I remember
Keifer never comes back but you can keep using Aira if you want, you can just swap characters, but that is post game.
Makes sense, since Aira was my favorite. This remake is getting me off my butt to finally cosplay her next year, I think!
http://www.gamesradar.com/dragon-quest-vii-21-game-screenshots-psone-remake-3ds/ IT LOOKS SO GOOD. The shots of Maribel yelling at the hero and Kiefer in the ruins makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.
Seeing this makes me wanna pick up a Dragon Quest game and give it a try. They look like a lot of fun though. :'D

Dragon Quest is not an easy game, but once you beat one the knowledge you gained will help with other games.
It looks good, though I don't see why Gabo needs to be on a wolf in the field. I get it, feral child.

I would recommend something like Dragon Quest IX for starters, or VIII if you can find it. :)

Yes, Dragon Quest 9 is AMAZING, I love that game.
It is even more fun when you have 3 other friends playing it at the same time :D
I'm a Dragon Quest noob, and DQ9 was amazing. I highly recommend that for starters.
Or if you want a watered-down Dragon Quest style of experience, try Denpa Men. I believe it was created by someone who worked on various Dragon Quest games, and it definitely has a Dragon Quest-like vibe to it, but it's a lot simpler of a game.
i have the 4th DQ game for the DS and the 8th one for the ps2. the ironic thing was on the 8th version i had almost beat the game and all i had to do it find one person and i could have been done with it in a snap. but at the time i did not know that; so i started a new game and went though it again.
the 4th one for the ds i have yet to beat, i just need to level up my characters more.
