Steampunk Darth Vader.

  • Well I decided to use some of my extra Vader parts and construct a Steampunk Vader. I have a ton of ideas in my head for this but there is one thing I can't seem to get any inspiration for. The Lightsaber, of course repaint the hilt in Bronze and Brass but what about the blade?

  • Do you know how to constructed a Telsa Coil

Yes, high voltage very dangerous not very portable. It had crossed my mind.

You can do a small scaled one a few years ago at SDCC there was a couple of Star Wars Cosplayers with them.

  • I made a walking stick out of copper pipe with a thick copper wire coiled around it. It is meant to be a "shock stick" type weapon. You might want to try something like this.

  • This is what comes to mind.

I was thinking about something along those lines. Wrapping the saber blade in a thick copper wire, also thought of a fine copper screen over the blade like a sleeve.

  • Here's a picture of a Steampunk Vader done by Hatton Cross to give you an idea of the lightsaber:

There was another Steampunk Wierd West Vader at ConTemporal this year and he just had a nice lightsaber with a colored hilt and a couple of things added to it (like some wires and springs).

  • Here's a steampunk laser sword you can use for inspiration:

Now, this is a CGI model, but you could construct a real world version using the same tech as lightsaber builders use. If you want sound, there's even a Steampunk lightsaber soundfont out there!

  • Battery powered 30" jacobs lader stuck in a cleaned out 32" long T12 fluorescent tube, FTW. On the safer side there are those 12V car neon tubes. Google "street glow lava" and "street glow lightning" . I think they only come in 12", 15" and 20" long but two could be used end to end.
